My printer can't deteched a genuine printer cartiridge

Make sure you are inserting genuine Lexmark cartridges and not refilled or remanufactured by third parties. If you are inserting brand new original supplies, please contact Lexmark technical support center to have it replaced.

Hi I had the same problem with a CX5400 printer scanner. My brother gave it to me because he'd put a compatible black cartridge in that was rejected. I tried compatible and genuine epson cartridges but no good. Still works as a scanner but wont print, not worth getting fixed.

I have the same problem with my Impact S305 - stupidly downloaded firmware today and now can't print wont print. I am furious and will never by Lexmark again. It is like buying a kodak camera and finding out it won't work with fuji film. Absurd.

To safe guard against improper ink usage, it is possible that HP cartiridges will fail upon ink injection.

This is done to help save the printer from being damaged by using the wrong ink. Ink has a certain "thickness" or vescosity (to be technical). If the ink is too thick or not thick enough it can cause problems for the heads within the printer (the little parts that put the ink to the paper). If this is the case the heads can clog or drip which, in the end, causes problems for the printer and not just the cartridge. Problems with the printer will cost more money in the end.

Purchase an HP brand cartridge to replace the one within the printer.

Is your ink still comming out of the cartridge? if soo than the person who has refilled it hasn';t done it carefulkly and might have damaged it.

Try to clean the electrical contacts on the back of the cartridge and also in the cartridge socket in the printer. Use isopropyl alcohol or some oil-free and residue-free cleaning fluid. Make sure, that the cartridge is inserted fully and is tightly held by the latch that keeps it in place.

May be the cartridge is not detected by Kodak printer. Kodak printer works with genuine Kodak cartridges and that too brand new not refilled cartridges.The brand new cartridges have a certain code that is recognised by the Printer.Kindly buy genuine cartridges as the printer may be damaged by Non comaptible cartridges.

Are you sure it's a genuine HP cartridge? Sometimes remanufactured cartridges aren't recognized by the printers. HP and others make them so that they have a chip inside that ensures only new genuine cartridges can be used. Try a new HP and see if that solves the problem. If you've already tried that one, then make sure the contacts in the printer are clean. If you still have a problem, then I'd say try a new printer!
