From what you've described, I can almost certainly say that you'll need to send the TV to a repairer for them to check it out. The popping noise could be the sound of a parts failure.
you must have a wire ( sound plug ) not connect properly ,
sometime those plug loose with time ,
when powered the make connection and those sound happen !
Hi,
You have severe damage in TV. the power supply part and circuits board were get problem.
Please check carefully the defective parts inside TV. And get repaired at repair shop or dealer is better options
Regards
the loud pop you heard was probably a capacitor blowing its top. The grinding noise is likely high voltage arching that was occuring due to rising voltage since capacitor isn't there to smooth it out.
this sounds like the problem most LCD tv's get with swelled up
capacitors in the power supply board. look for circular cylinder shaped
parts rapped in plastic with writting on the sides, and metal tops, if
the top is rounded over, not flat, it is bad. replace them.
If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp. The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours. Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.
Unfortunately, we have the same problem. We hear popping and our sound goes lower. It is not the cable box for us, it's definitely the TV; however, it happens, on our set, after its been on for a few minutes and then goes away after half an hour or so -- however, this evening its been happening for the past hour and the TV has been on for the evening.
Has anyone heard of something like this where the cable box/service is causing popping sounds?
yes & it is common problem.
And is this something I should be concerned about causing damage to the TV's speakers?
not at all.
The Sony tech-support representative (over the phone) diagnosed it further to a problem not with the TV but with the cable box/service because there were no popping sounds when I played a DVD on my Playstation 2 that is attached to the TV.
they are right that your problem is not due to tv.
it is due to cable box/service?
yes
but not defective it reqires to change the way you have connected tv to cable.please call tech to get it connected in such a way so that you do not get popping sound when you you put off cable box.
If the popping sound is NOT coming through the speakers, you probably have high voltage arcing. Probably close to the high voltage (flyback) transformer. If this is the case then other parts could be damaged if allowed to continue.
If the popping is coming through the speakers then you could have a problem any where in the signal circuits. Like a loose connection.
You'd need to have it checked out to find the problem.
