Check that 'Prevent Media Removal' is disabled Check the Support Ticket Device Analysis for indications of a stuck tape Run the L&TT*** "LTO Stuck Tape Test" Try a normal eject operation--Make sure that you allow up to 10 minutes for completion Perform an Emergency Unload Reset the drive to reset the drive firmware Use Library and Tape Tools (L&TT) to Upgrade your Firmware ***Download LTT from www.hp.com/support/tapetools
I would suggest sending it to www.tape-drive-repair.com for them to fix as once the tape has been removed you will still probably have the original fault that caused the tape to get stuck.
If you do try and remove the tape yourself be extremely careful as those drives are very easy to break the load mech and tape leader assy if you dont know exactly how to remove them.
Bear in mind the tape may not actually be stuck though!
Try powering off and on the loader with it disconnected from the server just in case it is your backup software not letting the drive eject the media as this is a common issue (where the software tells the drive it is using the tape (or hasnt finished with it) and stops the eject button from accidental operation)
The tape won't come out when resetting the drive. Error 6 is serious. To get out the tape you must open the drive. But IBM has a discription online (and in the user manual) how you can do this.
I highly recommend that you contact Certance for assistance. Tape drives are expensive and you don't want to risk damaging it.
If you are feeling brave you could see if you can manually eject the tape.
Remove the tape drive from the chassis and look for a manual rewind screw on the bottom or back of the drive. This is provided on some drives to allow you to manually wind the tape back into the cartrige and eject it.
