Kitchen aid mixer turn itsef off

There are several potential reasons why your KitchenAid dough mixer might be shutting off. Here are a few possible causes:
Overheating: If the mixer has been running for an extended period of time, the motor may overheat and shut off as a safety precaution. In this case, you should allow the mixer to cool down for a while before using it again.
Faulty wiring: If the mixer is shutting off when you turn it on or when you change the speed, there may be a problem with the wiring. You should check the wiring to see if there are any frayed or damaged wires that could be causing the issue.
Clogged air vents: The mixer may shut off if the air vents are clogged, as this can cause the motor to overheat. You should check the air vents to make sure they are clean and unobstructed.
Failed motor: If none of the above issues are present, the problem could be with the motor itself. A failed motor can cause the mixer to shut off, and it may need to be replaced.
If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the mixer yourself, you should consider contacting KitchenAid customer service or a professional appliance repair service for assistance.

Kitchen Aid Mixer, Model K5SS. I only have speed 1 and 2 when mixing anything thick or giving resistance, regardless of what speed I set the speed control, but all 10 speeds work fine with nothing in the...

I can't say with any confidence I know how it works, however it is a series wound brush type motor that without control produces high torque at low speed - directly wired such a motor would only be running slow because of an excess load when it would consume enough current to self destruct.

Speed control is accomplished by electronic circuitry reducing the power to the motor which is fine when no load is applied but that is completely unsatisfactory so there is also a centrifugal governor to provide a more stable speed under load and that could be the problem - maybe a spring dropped out or something.

Kitchenaid 600 pro

After many years dealing with Kitchen Aid mixers I purchased a pro 600 for my wife as an early Xmas gift. After just a few usages it started making a clunking noise in the gear housing. I removed the housing and discovered the casting is of very poor tolerances and the main drive assembly was lifting from the torque of the motor and causing the gear assembly to lift out of the casting and skipping on the worm gear. I am sure it is going to happen to many more of these units as the casting area that holds the bearing in is to large obviously an overdue mold in the casting process. Time for a recall Kitchen Aid.

I have a kitchen aid pro 6 kp 2671 the motor will not turn on.

Bad motor = $125.00
bad speed switch = $38.00
bad plug = $17.00

All are easy fixes in that model and all parts are available on the internet and ebay. A kitchenaid parts manual can be downloaded off of the internet and it is basically a tear down guide. Shoul be able to accomplish any of the three fixes in 15 to 60 minutes

My Kitchen Aid Mixer, Professional 600, model no. KP26M1, is out of warranty and the motor has two speeds, highest (10) and off. Is this something I can fix myself?

Looking at the diagram here:

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%208212278.pdf

You will see the motor controller Item Number 19. Looks like a pretty simple taks to remove and replace it. there is also a hall effect sensor Itme Number 24 which monitors the motor speed. That might be faulty as well, but my best bet is the controller.

Unfortunately the parts list does not specify the part number for the controller so a call to Kitchenaid is probably required.

Lymy kitchen aid mixer speed

It sounds like you may have a governor issue. which is located at the back of your unit. it controls the amount of current going to your motor by way of centripetal force. the part number for the governor assembly is 4159675. this can become weaker over time and will eventually cause it to sputter or speed up suddenly. hope this helps.

Thanks
