Just look at the screws involved - usually they will be 'star' ones and sometimes very small as well as medium.
Therefore get a good set of 'star' screwdrivers for your repair toolkit!

Unfortunately, the RC-771M remote doesn't control the TX-SR502. It will only work with these Onkyo models: TX-NR1008 and TX-NR808. The RC-567M is the one for the TX-SR502; replacement remotes that are exact replacements are still available from various places including Amazon.com .
Since the TX-SR502 was released in ~2004, that replacement remote probably won't control other devices that were released in 2004 or later. Onkyo changed its IR code programming before the TX-NR1008 was released in ~2010 and the RC-771M can't communicate with the older receiver. The manuals for the receivers listed above are still available from Onkyo on the product page under the Downloads tab.
You might require special screw driver to match the screws used.may be you can buy a set of screw drivers available as set of driver bits may not cost much if ya buy a Chinese .
after removing the screw you will have to pry at sides using a pen knife take care not use much force as plastic used is bit delicate or if you do have some friends who have already opened use their help.of course you can see this on YouTube videos .
