if that is the Kohler 14 hp motor it may have the spark control untit on the motor cover. I recently ran into one like that and switched the coil out from a blown 20 hp kohler engine. I just taped up the excess wires and made sure they were not near any moving parts. The mower ran fine after that. Kohler wants about $160.00 for a spark control unit. There have been no repercussions since making the switch.

check for fuel try starting fluid if it fires on that then you have spark if it does not then you have a spark problem and seeing the command engine has two coils check the safety switches on the mower side

did the belt break or fall off? are the trans release levers pulled out ?the ones you release to push it around

Yes I agree. I would figure that out first before changing the engine.

check spark plug sounds it s heating up to much make sure of oil level and if it has been sitting a while dump the gas in it and fill it with new and buy some sea foam and add a little to the gas

You should be able to push it forwards as well as backwards. I had a similar problem (engine stalling) with mine. I found out if I half choke it, it will stay running. Transmission may still have a problem.

The main jet is dirty or the fuel system is restricted. Regards Phil
