Leaky steam iron

First of all make sure it is air tight! If it has a crack or a break in the seal its probably not going to do you any good anymore. Try washing it and rinsing with vinegar to remove any material that may be stuck in there or get rid of mineral buildup from steam and water over time.

Steam not working on iron then lots of water pouring out of holes

fill water chamber with vinegar and let it sit for 24 hours.
empty vinegar - fill with distilled water - turn on and press the steam button to clean the holes in the plate of mineral deposits which accumulate from using tap water. after a few shots of steam all should be clear - empty and refill with distilled water and it should be good to go.

Lost instructions on how to use self clean on my iron

It probably needs to be de-calicified, you can find the stuff to do it at most any hardware store.

Rowenta steam generator

Maybe the cap is coated with mineral deposits. Do you use ONLY DISTILLED WATER in the iron? If not, minerals from the water could be the cause. Try pouring some CLR or a similar product over the cap and see if that frees it up . If it does, pour some CLR into the iron's tank, and set it to the highest temperature setting. Run the iron over an old towel to help clean the steam vents. Then fill the tank with DISTILLED WATER and do the same proceedure two more times using DISTILLED WATER ONLY to flush out any remining CLR.

it can be that one of the thermostats controlling the water flow pump into the steam generator has become open circuit, caution is advised as this can potentially overheat the steam generator for there being lack of water, depending on your system design...i could be wrong just a guess !

My iron doesn't steam up anymore

Time for a new iron. I last one went to the iron graveyard and I then spent $150.00 on the top of the range Phillips with the gold plate. Has cut my ironing down to a 1/4 of the time. Well worth it

Steam doesnt work

A mineral buildup from your water may be blocking the holes in the soleplate of your iron. Before you do anything, read the instruction booklet for your appliance or call the manufacturer. The old remedy of using vinegar to unclog an iron is no longer recommended for many models. Some manufacturers suggest alternating tap and distilled water in the steam compartment to avoid a mineral buildup; others recommend using a specialized cleaning product (available at fabric and grocery stores) to clean the soleplate.
