How do i remove the light to change a light bulb?

this is a large and heavy fan , make sure electric box in cieliing is rated for fan's a plain one will not safely support the bigger fans

The light fixture then the fans lower housing needs to be removed to gain access to the pull chain switch

Hampton Bay is a Home Depot product. Many Home Depots carry these replacement shades in stock. If your Home Depot doesn't have this shade in stock they can order one for you. Regards, Joe

i looked it up online and they called it a:
Single Bowl Twist and Lock Light Kit.
Some things i would suggest:

1. push it up and turn (like when you open a medicine bottle.
2. try to look for a spring action peg that clicks in automatically around the glass dome that might be locking it...

Melanie, you must have gotten a bad batch of bulbs. I have installed over 100 Hampton Bay ceiling fans and I have dropped them from up the ladder and have them bounce across the floor with no damage. I think they must have allowed a substandard batch to go out.

Home Depot is where I buy my replacement bulbs. Hampton Bay make fans exclusively for HD.

You can easily change lighting bases, as the wiring is the same for all Hampton Bay. You may even appeal to Hampton Bay on the internet and they might send you the kits. But I don't think you'd have success in a store.

If you try replacing them with bulbs from another Home Depot you may find them much hardier. I wish you the best of luck, and if you need additional help please write back.

Home Depot should stock them. If not, you should be able to order it online from them. Hampton Bay make fans exclusively for Home Depot.

Call Home Depot customer service dept at 1-800-654-0688 and they will put you in touch with the manufacturer while on the phone. These fan have a problem with the motor control module, but they will send you the replacement part for free.
