If you don't remeber the wireless security code, maybe you still remeber the user and password to access the web management interface of the router. Then you have to connect the laptop to the router by using a network cable. Open a browser window, type in the IP adress of your router and check the wireless setup section. There you can find / modify the wifi security code.
If you don't know the router's IP adress, then open on your computer a ms-dos prompt and type the command ipconfig /all
it will display your current IP adress, subnet mask and GATEWAY. The gateway adress is the router's IP adress that must be typed into the browser.
If you don't remember the user and password for accessing the router's web interface, please refer to the router's user manual in order to reset it to factory default configuration, and then proceed as for the first installation of the router.

Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. To be able to get you Network key you will need to get in the Router settings page.
Firs you will need an Ethernet cable to connect you computer to the Router.
Once you have the cable and that the Router is connected to the Compute you will need to open IE or Firefox.
Now on your Browser on the Address bar you will need to type in 192.168.1.1 then press Enter this should open up a windows asking for a user name and password.
For the User Name type in Admin and for the Password leave it Blank or it can be the other way around leave the User name Blank and the password admin.
this should open the Linksys setting page click the Wireless Tab or Link then the network mode or radio should be enabled to get wireless working on your Linksys Router.
Also third i where you can get the WEP key of your Router you may also change that if your wish to WEP can only be a 10 numerical password most Internet service providers use the phone numbers of the customer as the WEP key.
the default user name is admin, try that with no password.
if that doesn't work to reset it you
1- Power OFF your router.
2- Disconnect all LAN cables
3- Loop the WAN port to a LAN port, in other words hook up a network cable from the WAN port to one
of the LAN ports
4- Power up, wait 15 seconds
when you have done that use the default username and password to access the router, but when you have done this make sure you set a new user name and password and keep it somewhere safe.
Try to connect you computer with an Ethernet cord. If the Internet is working check the default gateway of the computer by typing "ipconfig" on the command prompt. Type the default gateway on the address bar. There you will see the login page for your wireless router. Check the default username and password from the router's manual and enter it. If it accept the user name and password, look for the wireless settings, password should be seen there. If not create a new one. If default user name and password doesn't work reset the router. There should be a reset button or pinhole on the back of the router. Press and hold it for 10seconds. Try again typing the default gateway on the address bar then re enter the default user name and password. If it work your router now do not have a network key (unsecured). You can create a new network key on the router's configuration page.
