Projector should have either VGA or HDMI or DVI to connect to a computer. The computer also should have the connections as well VGA, DVI, or HDMI.

Once connected to the projector, it generally should be automatic, but if not use the following below:

For Windows XP and Vista,
The key combination should be on the keyboard itself. See the manufacturer for this external monitor keyboard combination.

For Windows 7,8,10
Start logo button and P combination. Should show options for duplicate, extend, or only second screen only. The only second screen option should be chosen, since we only want the projector to show up, no other screen.

you dont connect a projector to a tv. you connect a video source to the projector like a dvd player or a video machine.xbox 360 etc, the projector then projects the item connected to it, like your tv does when you connect similar items. The projector has a couple of inputs available to it ..this is why it is saying searching VGA and Composite video etc
