My R4 multimedia thing won't work...

So when i start ny R4, then it it'll say GAMES MULTIMEDIA BOOT-SLOT

The multimdia function won't work...
This is waht it says:
(bottom screen)
"An error detected while trying to access the disc of file. Please confirm the followings:

Did the setup end normally?
Is the 'moonshl' folder moved deleted?
Have you enabled the resume function with media that is not supported?
Do you have enough free space on your media?
Please reformat the media and try again."
and blah, blah, blah.

How do you reformat the thing anyway?

oh dear, one of the games is infected with a virus, dnt delete any of the saves i did and then it killed my card, i was told to format the card, you might have the chance for it to start working again, but i had to buy a new one for nearly £40 i hope you succeed

The old R4 Revolution or any non SDHC device only support up to 2GB, wont support 4GB cards as these ones are already SDHC memories.

You need a SDHC compatible flashcart device to be able to use your 4GB or bigger memory.

This sound like your using an R4 catridge? Your problem doesn't specify if this is the case.

SOURCE: Problem with the R4 in nintendo DS

Hello there,

This sounds like, quite simply, you having the wrong type of firmware for your card.

There are three 'main' types of R4 card: The R4v2, R4 SDHC, and R4v3 card. There are numerous others as well, but these are the main three. You can find out which one you have and download the correct software by following this link. If you're still stuck, try e-mailing this website with a photo of your card and they may be able to help.

If you are looking for a reliable place to buy DS and DSi cards from that will stock originals, I'd recommend using http://www.NDS-Gear.com (I've used them myself). They test every card before sending which means you won't receive dud cards, and more importantly they have support before AND after your purchase by people who reply very quickly and in perfect English. Some of these dodgy websites take 4-6 weeks to deliver and never answer e-mails, so I'm glad these guys are different. Oh, and they guarantee to dispatch by the next working day, which always helps with speed and all. And they're recommended by a lot of the DS card help sites, too.

Recently had to replace card slot on my Ds lite as 1 of the kids shoved a card in the wrong way. Now normal games work fine but it wont recognise R4 card. It just goes to the system screen as if no card...

Multimedia keyboard on function keys. Functions work with a key "Function" How to change "Multimedia keys first" on "Function keys first" ???
You can change the settings by going to BIOS. To go to BIOS, restart the system and as soon as you restart, start tapping the <F2> key located on the keyboard. This will take you to BIOS.
You can use the Function Key Behavior setting in the System Setup (BIOS) utility to configure the media control keys. The options in the Function Key Behaviour setting are:
Multimedia Key First - This is the default option. Press any multimedia key directly. For function key, press <Fn> + the required function key.
Function Key First - Press any function key directly. For multimedia key, press <Fn> + the required multimedia key.

How can i get the relevant software for my r4 memory card
ok look up roms for the games but i dont how to work ds games which most people ask for. i have heard of a way to hack the capabilites of the ds with two cards one the PASSME card which is the ds carttridge and then the micro sd card slot that is the GBA slot on the bottom. but r4 can play SNES [super nintendo]

Super Nintendo games and any games before need emulators.. and the emulators need to be patched before they play.

google up super nintendo roms or the the title of a game and then rom.. Mega Man X3 rom

ok here we go!!!!!!rusty on this!!! so ur card is working but games no.. well if ur emulators are not pacthed they wont start so patching the emulators [or programs like ultra thing] will make sure its runs on ur R4 and make sure you download files for R4. here are the files and sites

extract the file ok get the dlltool32.exe file and drop it in a folder on your desktop and put the file for your R4 in the folder to and the emulator also then run program dlltool32.exe and chose the patch file you downloaded and the emulator file and run it! it should say patch success and now set the emulator and any files it came with and add games in the card and run it should work

Problem with r4 and ds lite
Try the paper shim trick first. It could be that the older NDSL's slot one contacts have become "sprung" and aren't making good contact.

Cut a piece of paper slightly narrower but longer than the R4. Put it on the non-contact side of the R4 and insert the R4 (with the paper on the back) into slot 1. It may increase the thickness of the R4 such that the slot 1 fingers now make contact.

R4DS and Rumble Pack
Oops! First I would try copying your entire SD contents to a folder on your computer. This will validate if all files are in tact and readable. Then copy them back (replacing them). it could also be that the 'drop' jarred something loose inside your DS. Can you play a legit DS game using the original card? If not, you may have an internal issue. You can goto Nintendo's site (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/dslite_repair_home.jsp), put in your serial number to see if you're still under warranty. I believe for a "white-screen" issue (according to their website) you can mail it back & get it fixed for free. Did you try putting your R4 into someone else's DS?
The issue with the Rumble pack seems to be consistent with an internal issue with your DS.

If you are using R4, you should put the game in the slot then start the ds, otherwise it won't work. That all i know lol!!
