sounds like vertical retrace lines. The horizontal line fault called so. Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. This problem is a couple of bad caps in the vertical and horizontal sweep area, just can't remember which. It use to be a 220uf cap that needs changing.
Wow 5 months without a solution. NOT GOOD..
Well I hope I can help...
This sounds like a vertical hold problem, and is normally easy to fix....
There should be a couple of nob's on the lower back of the TV. One for vertical and one for Horizontal hold. You need to find the vertical hold nob and adjust it, until the rolling stops and stabilizes.
If however these nob's are not visible you will have to take TV to an engineer to fix it.
Hope this helps..
The convergance or y-sus board can become faulty. The capcitors do tend to burn out. It is about a $250 + repair for this. Not all parts can be repaired, but they can be replaced. A capacitor tester and multi-meter are about the best tools for the job. If the price you get is over $250, I simply would replace it instead of repairing it..
The following are supposed to be checked on the horizontal and vertical,
the supply of the sawtooth oscillator
eletrolitic capacitors near a line transformer
zener diodes
and driver transistor a round that area.
Are the wavy lines horizontal or vertical? If they are horizontal and up near the top of the screen it could be 60HZ interference from a power cord running over the cable from the DVD player to the TV. There could also an internal breakdown of the shielding by the power supply of the DVD player. If the lines are vertical it is likely the cable or maybe the input jack on the TV. Could be a number of things.
this is very common with these sets. the fix is to replace 11 very very smal capacitor on what is known as the hypermodule. The ideal sitation is to replace the hypermodule. if you can find it. I can do this repair. I have done about 10 at the shop. if you need to i would suggest finding someone who is very experence in surface mounted repair
I gather from your post that wavy can mean two possible things as the TV comes on, you see the picture flow like ocean waves? In this case you may have 60Hz hum modulating with the picture, this is actually unlikely these days, but I have heard it happens sometimes.
The other thing it could be is light horizontal tearing. This happens when the horizontal frequency is too high or too low. You are not going to like my solution because I feel that for problems like this the set must be analyzed not just subjected to "shotgun troubleshooting", so here I go, Take the TV to a repair shop.
This TV uses small voltage regulators. On each side of the regulators is the input voltage and the regulated output voltage on the other side. There are capacitors used for stabilization on the input and output. Change these capacitors.
