Spare Di-624 Hey, I have a spare Di-624 lying around. Right now I am using a Belkin N1 vision with both N and G radio types for my wireless internet. I was wondering if there was some way I could use the spare Di-624 to boost the signal strength of the new router? Like some kind of repeater, AP, or bridge?

Well, if you run a LAN cable from your existing router to the DI-624 in a remote location you could use it as an AP, but this router does not support repeater of bridge modes.

SOURCE: Using the DI-624 as a bridge

I don't think it can. An inexpensive wireless access point will work as a bridge. I use the TP Link brand with detachable antenna.

http://www.tplink.com/products/product_des.asp?id=116

Using the terms using the dlink router as bridge you get results of people who claim it can't be done because of firmware. The same question on the D-Link help site mentions DL to DL bridges, but not with the 624.

My internet is greatly reduced with Belkin N1 vision wireless (before the hook-up it was 15mbps now only 5mbps), I have tested by hooking directly from the modem to the computer and got 15mbps. Before N1,...

When you only get 5 mbps are you connecting to the new router wirelessly or via the ethernet cable? If it is wirelessly then try connecting with an ethernet cable and see if you still get 5 mbps. If so then try resetting the router (the procedures for this will be explained in the manual) and re-test. Wireless connections can slow down due to obstacles such as thick walls or other obstacles of that type. If all else fails return the unit and try another.

I have a wireless router in a room next to mine which the internet runs to which works well. But i have the belkin n1 vision running off the computer in the room next door but i can not find the internet? ...

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Can I use my belkin N1 Vision as a bridge?

It can't be used as a bridge but you can use it as an Access Point. All you need to do is disable the DHCP server of the router and don't use the Internet/WAN port
