I am attempting to remove the garbage disposal myself to save money I cannot get the silver mount to loosen

Replace disposal.

Usually, disposals are not a repairable item.
The loose shredder plate is integral with the motor shaft so they cannot come loose unless the disposal needs replacement.

Use broomstick to un-jam the disposal cutter disc
Or use allan wrench on bottom of disposal
