How to fit a foot release pedal on a samsung su2931 vacuum cleaner

I have a Samsung SU2920. The pedal has broken. Spare is available on espares. To remove the broken pedal:
Turn the machine over and locate the foot pedal side near a rear wheel.
Operate the pedal to see how it is held in place by a moulded pin which is captured by two lugs on the underside of the body. Use a torch to get some light in there.

Insert a thin blade on either side to bend the plastic lugs slightly so that the moulded pin on the foot pedal can slide upwards without being held by the lugs. The pedal will not slide up easily. I used a hammer and a metal bar to tap it free.
Once the pedal is removed, the spare can be clicked into place from the top without tools.

How do I change belt in power head? Is there a

There could be 2 different ways to access the belt on the kenmore line of powerheads...

1) turn the powerhead over so that the bottom is facing up. IF there are screws on the bottom, remove them. There should be 2 either at the back where the rear wheels are, or one under the elbow, and one midway at the front under the lifter wheels. remove the screws, and there should be two tabs on the sides to remove the top cover. OR 2 tabs at the back of the unit near the screws to remove the top cover.

2) and this is the more common powerhead...

remove the light cover for the powerhead by pressing at the two sides and pulling the cover up. sometimes a screwdriver to pry open a little will help.
Remove the light bulb.
Remove the two screws.
Turn the head over and pry at both sides to pull the top cover off.

Good luck with either one.

The chord will not retract? I can't find a way to get at it? I have the air filter part off. It is an ambassador vaccum.

hi,

for this model, there are no screws or anything to pry open.
First, remove the bag, from the unit and keep the door open. Remove the hose for easier operation here.
Next, both of the side bumpers must come off. They will actually slide out where the bag goes. Which is also why we are keeping the bag door open.

The easiest way to get the sides off is to use a flat screwdriver and insert it just a little at the back and then tap the screwdriver towards the front of the unit. you can use a hammer for the tapping, and you may want to have someone hold the machine as it will slide.

for this unit, when you have the side rails off, TURN THE VAC OVER so now you are looking at the wheels. You will want to remove the bottom of this machine. There are no wires or switches connected to the bottom panel. easiest way for this is to grab hold of the rear wheels and lift up.

your cord winder will be there at the back. Its probably just locked in an awkward position OR its actually broken.

Good luck

I have a Fantom Thunder Vacuum. Missed placed my book. How do you replace the belt on the brush?

depending on your model, and I am going from memory on this one. I have not seen this model in a while.

1 headlight on the unit:
there are 2 screws on the back of the cover for the brush. Just above the wheels. Remove those two screws and the cover will come off.

2 headlights on the unit:
use a small screwdriver to remove the headlight lens covers, remove both of the light bulbs, and then the two screws are under the lights. there MAY be 2 more screws again at the back of the unit above the 2 rear wheels to remove as well. again the cover should come off and you will have full access to the belt/brush under there.

Wheel is sticking. I want to remove the wheel to clean the axel. kenmore 116.27514700

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification. This is actually fairly simple to remove the rear wheel, however as you'll see after this has been removed, there really is no axle attached to this. It just snaps into the main canister housing. It may be that your wheel has broken, and a new wheel may fix your problem.

First here's a link to the parts shematic for your model so you can follow along:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=11627514700&productCategoryId=0642000&brandId=0582&brandDescription=KENMORE&modelName=VACUUM-CLEANER&diagramPageId=00001&componentDescription=CANISTER&documentId=P0706048&blt=06

Simply put a flat head screw driver behind the brush, and pry it off. It will easily come right off. You may inspect the wheel, and the wheel housing that it snaps into to make sure there are no obstructions, or pet hair that are slowing the wheel down. Also look at the clips that hold the wheel in place to make sure there's no debris above the clips on the wheel that could slow down the brushes also.

If it all appears to be fine, you may spray some WD40 on the part of the wheel that spins, reinsert it back in the vacuum cleaner and test to see if that fixes it. If it didn't, you might just want to purchase a new wheel assembly.

Here's a link to the rear wheel for Kenmore canisters if you'd like to purchase a new one from our website:

Hopefully that helps you. If you have any questions about how to repair this, or other questions that I did not address, simply just add a comment as you did last time, and I'll be more then happy to answer any and all of your follow up questions.

If you found this repair helpful, please be so kind and rate my repair, or leave feedback. This is really appreciated, and one of the reasons that Fixya repair professionals continue to post free repair advice on Fixya.

Oreck XL How to remove rear wheel. Removed all viewable hair, thread, etc., but one wheel is still hard to turn. I think there's hair stuck inside the wheel core. Can I remove the wheel & take it off...

You can take a medium size flathead screwdriver and slide it in beside the wheel and under the pin. Then pry carefully on one side and then the other it will start to come out but work both sides alternately so you won't put too much pressure on the plastic. Once it is out you can clean it and put it back in. Line up the pin and use a blunt end tool like a punch to tap it back in. You can use the same screwdriver but don't hit it too hard. You can tell when it is in all the way when it bottoms out. Make sure you look closely at it before you take it out so you will know what it is suppose to look like.
