On the five wire cable, the red, blue and green are for the picture. The other two connectore are for the audio. Not all TV's have this type of input. The link above has information about the five wire and other input cables.
Your problem may be that you need to select the "AV" input on the HDTV. Samsung HDTVs of late combine the composite video with the green input component video. To use the yellow composite video in the green input port you have to select the proper AV input on the TV which tells the TV to go composite video (yellow) instead of component video (green). Try this, it may work.
have you check if you are using the usb cable or the av cable. the camera will not show anything on the screen if you are using the av cable and connect the camera to your computer.
Where are you located, I just bought a 50" plasma and need to sell my Samsung HLR4667, works fine and is cheap. I am in NY state and can get you the TV or the part if you like.
It is possible that some debris has entered the fan and is preventing it from spinning fast enough to be detected. Try opening up the back and blowing out the fan area. Check to be sure that the fan spins freely (with the power off/unplugged) and try again. Let us know how you make out.
