SOURCE: The cartridges will not move back into place

If you have not broked anything, it will go in.
Also check the manual that came with the printer How to install the cartridge.

It's a firmware error.
Unplug the power cord. Wait a few minutes and plug it back in. Power up. If the error is gone...good.
If the error comes back, go to hp.com and download new firmware.

79 errors are often linked to firmware. Unplug the printer from power as well as any network or USB cables you may have plugged in. If the printer will restart without an interface cable connected then it is likely a bad print job. Clear all jobs from the print queues and then plug in the interface cable. If printer continues to stay at ready, download the current firmware and install it. This should resolve the problem.

Cartridge jam won't clear HP 5610v

I had the same problem and just got it to work. go to

go to the section "Moving the carriage" turn on printer and then unplug power. If you still cant move the carrage then remove both toner cartridge and all the trays. Then completely disconnect printer and stand it upright (so paper feed and cartridge tray is on top) Look thru the paper feed area to the left side of toner carrage and you will see a little plastic tab around the bottom back of the carrage. That tab is suppose to be inside a track on the bottom of the carrage. I think that when we put in or took out toner we must have pushed it to hard and that piece jumped out of the track and has "locked" the carrage. I just pushed the carrage up carefully and used a letter opener to move the plastic tab back into place (tab is spring loaded) print working fine now. Hope this solves your problem

Error lights

Its one of three problems. Firstly is the carrage belt OK. Look at the area under the belt, are there lots of bits of purple looking bits and dust lying around, then you need a new carrage belt. P/N 4706-60082 (36"machine). If the belt is OK the second problem could be teh trailig cable although the are fairly long lasting. The most likley cause is the carrage (head unit) itself. The paper sensor packs up and then the error crops up. Your part number is C4713-60039. The machine is regarded as obsolete and parts are becomming hard to get. You have a good machine otherwise and try to get the parts. Yoy can log onto HP Partserve to locate spares in your area
