First I would remove the switch hose from the pump. Pinch the end of the hose over and hold it in place with a piece of tape. Depress the button and hold. If the button has little to no resistance then there is a hole in the air line which is causing enough air to leak that there is not enough force to activate the switch. If that is not the problem then just consider leaving the switch in the hole on the tub surface but adding a regular wall swich to the wall near the tub. This move the switch action from the tub to the wall. This a really cheap solution compared to getting a new switch mechanism which is what is broken for about $200.

New whirlpool bath installed pump working no air coming through jets

I would guess there could be one of two problems. First, open the access pannel so you have acces to the motor and air tubes. From your actuator that turns on the jets, there should be a small tube (probably clear) that goes from the actuator to the motor. this tube controls the jets, make sure it is connected, finding the small nipple that this tube connects to on the motor can be difficult and they are often not connected when you buy the tub or come loose during instalation. If that is OK, check to make sure the Air Inlet pipe is not blocked. there should be one (maybe 2 but usually 1) of the large tubes that circle the tub undernieth that is open on one end. It is probably the tube that is the highest off the ground. this should not be connected to anything, it almostt appears that the water would rush out if you don't connect it to something, but that is where the air comes in for the bubbles. good Luck

Jacuzzi tub air push swith not hooked up

It does hook up to the pump/motor there should be a friction fitting that the hose fitts over there is a square like box sitting on top of motor this is where i would look for the hook up (should be in the area of the pump/motor electrical cord) . I hope this helps. Thanks for using FIXYA. Have a great week.

Kohler Whirlpool K-1266 (Does not star

Here are some possible causes and solutions. I know some seem simple but am trying to cover all base
  1. Jets Closed, rotate Jet trm ring counterclockwise to open.
  2. Jet not installed correctly, re-install jet, check for 'O' ring damage.
  3. Jets are blocked, Check for blockage and remove.
  4. Pump is not priming, Pumps with wooden support blocks only, Pump shimmed to high, lower pump support bracket. (wooden support blocks only)
  5. Pump is air locked. Loosen fitting on pump outlet to allow any air to escape, re-tighten.
  6. Air Actuator tubing is disconnected, loose, kinked, plugged or damaged. Connect, straighten, clean or replace air actuator tubing.
  7. Air Actuator does not work, replace the air actuator
visual check to see if pump is turning when motor is is on. If not replace the the pump you may need to disconnect the the inlet/outlet to see. I hope this helps at least provide some direction. Good Luck, Jeff

My American Standard Whirlpool does not turn on. I push the Power button and don't hear anything. Circuit breaker is on, anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Remove access panel make sure pump is plugged in some electricians put a GFI outlet under tub for motor make sure GFI did not trip. Next the switch is an air switch look for the hose going to switch is connected last you may need a new air switch which is common to fail

I have a 16 year old Aker whirlpool tub. Recently the tub turned on with no one near it. I had to turn the breaker off so the motor did not burn out. It appears the air switch has failed. How do you...

If it is an air switch, the switch itself is located on the pump.Locate the air line that goes from the button and follow it to the pump. It is possible to replace the switch with the pump in a accessible location. If not remove the pump and replace the switch on a work bench. The switch is inside the black or blue box located on the pump motor. Hope this helps.

How to identify make and model of old whirlpool tub?

This is a problem common to all whirlpool/air jet style tubs. The pumps become air locked due to the water evaporating from lack of use. All tubs need, and have, SOME means of priming the pump, this is most likely what the problem was, originally, for you. This time in particular you found it to be electrical in nature but for future reference, for you and all who have these style of tubs, I am putting this out there. Some where on the tub, usually along the top edge of the tub is a vent knob that controls the amount of air that the pump is allowed to mix with the water for the jets, usually by closing this valve all the way (tub needs to be full of water of course) and running the pump for a minute or 2, you should be able to get the pump pumping water again, if not you may need to do something else with your particular set-up to get it purged of air, the pumps in jacuzzi tubs are designed to pump water, not air, so if the motor is running but you get no jet action, your most likely air locked and need to prime pump/purge air.
