We have had a problem with grit getting all over the dishes. At one point we had found some information about blowing out the rinse arm. It seemed to help temporarily but now.... It's like someone has thrown a cup of sand in there and it's blowing all over the dishes in the top rack.
Well we have checked the temperature and it's 126 right now. However, in the process of checking the temperature I noticed that the wash arms had not moved in the 5 minutes since I check the last time. There is water coming from them but they just aren't spinning. What might we look at next? Any idea?Well we have checked the temperature and it's 126 right now. BTW I am running the dishwasher empty. So I know that nothing is blocking the arms from moving.BTW I am running the dishwasher empty. So I know that nothing is blocking the arms from moving.
I have the same problem! The dishes seem to be getting clean but a sandy grit is on them when the cycle is complete. It is not a white substance that might be from the detergent--this is brown like. So what can I do? I have to rerinse all my dishes! It is driving me nuts.

Exactly same problem. Only got dishwasher a month ago & it cost over £400! Shocking. Tried all programmes & added rinse aid even though we live in a very soft water area.Exactly same problem. Sounds like you have a low water fill problem or maybe a water
temperature problem. The water should be at least 120 to 130 degrees
Fahrenheit to start with. Gel soaps can cause a lot of problems with
scum and leaving a white residue, mostly when there is not enough water
in the dishwasher. After it fills there should be water almost up to
the heating element. Also look for the water draining by itself.
Check to see if Normal water fill covers the filter area..IF not this is one of the reasons for the spray arms not rotating..Check to see if Normal water fill covers the filter area..IF not this is one of the reasons for the spray arms not rotating..

Is your state one the banned phosphates? If so, try adding a tablespoon of TSP to the detergent. If not, is there galvanized steel in your water supply? The grit in most washing aids removal of food on the dishes but is supposed to be gone by the rinse.
Mary do you have a water softener? If so, only use 1 tablespoon of dry dishwashing detergent per wash. Don't use tablets or liquid soaps. Too much soap will wear down the items you wash, leave streaks and pock your dishes. That might be what the sandy grit is. Also, to get rid of the grit inside of your washer you can buy a special dishwasher cleaner at almost any hardware store. Always try to use a rinse-aid. Make sure your drain filters are clean. Hope this helps. Jewels
I have the same problem. We cleaned the dishwasher out because the grit was coming from the dishwasher...however, we still have dirt/grit in our dishes, but a lot less. How do we get rid of this all together?
sometimes I have found if the arms are not freely going around then this can leave grit or if you have run out of rinse aide..the filters are usually in the bottom of the machine..hope this helps
is the salt container cap damaged or loose? is the rinse aid topped up? if all ok then are you scraping most of the food from the plates, this can cause old food to mush, pulp and leave grit on dishes.
Very common problem is soap build up in these machines. Try putting it into a wash cycle with no dishes, and no soap. Let it wash for about 5 minutes, and then open the door. If you see alot of soap suds, then soap build up is the problem. Try doing a couple loads with no soap, and no dishes, and throw a cup of vinegar into the machine halfway through the wash. Repeat as necessary. This should solve your problem.
Can you remove the upper spray arm (is yours under the upper rack?)-mine unscrews and then you have to wiggle it off. Run faucet water into the arm; sometimes little bits of crud get stuck in the holes that spray the water out, and this prevents a complete rinse. I just had to clear these holes myself due to same problem (I might have a different machine, though). You can do the same for the lower arm.
