Block website

There can be any number of reasons for you to want to block a particular website.
It might be a known malicious site or a website with pages containing inappropriate material.
Whatever the reason, you can block a website (or group of websites) with just a few mouse clicks using the built in functions of your browser.
Some browsers, however, such as Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, have built-in features to do just that, while others, such as Mozilla Firefox, require an additional tool.

Start the browser and click the "Tools" menu option.
Select "Internet Options," click the "Privacy" tab then "Sites."

Type the website URL in the "Address of website" box and click "Block" in the "Per Site Privacy Actions" window.
Click "OK" and then "OK" again to save the new settings.

Google Chrome

Start the browser and click the wrench icon in the top right corner of the window.

Select "Tools" and click "Under the Hood."
Select "Change Proxy Settings," click "Security" tab and double-click the "Restricted Sites" icon.
Click "Sites," type in the website URL and click "Add."
Close all windows.

Discreetly Block a Website
If you find a friend, co-worker or your child has visited websites that cause problems on your computer, such as pop-up ads, viruses or just slowing down your computer, you will want to block those sites so they can't be accessed.
Browsers come equipped with privacy or security settings that allow you to block websites, but they don't always work well and are easy to undo.
Instead, find your computer's Host file and add the offending websites to that file.
Those sites will be blocked and, if you make the file password inaccessible, others who use your computer won't be able to undo the changes you have made.

Click "Start" in the lower left-hand corner of your computer screen, or click on the Windows emblem.
Choose "All Programs," "Accessories," then "Command Prompt."
A screen will appear.
Type "notepad C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts" where the cursor is located, without the quotation marks.
Don't move the cursor first, just start typing.
The Host file will open in a Notepad screen.

Look for the line that says: "127.0.0.1 localhost," without the quotation marks. Under that line, enter the IP address and the name of the website you wish to block, separated by at least one space. If you wish to block more than one website, list each on an individual line.
For instance, if you wanted to block Facebook, you would type on a single line:
69.63.184.142 www.facebook.com

Save the file after you have added all the websites you wish to block.
After saving it, close the file and close the command prompt screen.

Locating IP Addresses

Use the Ping command to find out the IP address of a website. On the lower left-hand corner of your screen, click on "Start." Choose "All Programs." Select "Accessories." Choose "Command Prompt."

Type "ping www.food.com" without the quotation marks.
Press the "Enter" key. A list of IP addresses will appear for that website.
High-traffic websites such as Facebook will often have a range of IP addresses.
Copy and paste the IP addresses to a separate page, such as Notepad, and save them.

Go back to the command prompt and type in the command described above for locating the Host file.
Enter each IP address and the name of the website on a separate line.
If you have six IP addresses for one site, for instance, you'll have a different IP address but the same website URL on each line.

I am unable to send friend request on facebook. Facebook has blocked me for 14 days pls help

You might have been blocked by Facebook.

Facebook blocks profile based on :
  1. Friend Requests you give in given quantity of time
  2. Posts you post in given quantity of time
They have not specified any duration or conditions for which they might block someone. Take for example, a person keeps on sending friend request. Say,he gives 150 friend request within 15 minutes, then Facebook might get suspicious it might be a bot.Since these kinds of activities burdens their server, they might prevent that user to further do any actions. It is at this point of time,Facebook blocks people.

In their Help center, they have stated that Facebook would never lift block for any reason and the block would extend from few hours to few days.

Also when you do certain action while your account is blocked and that particular action is the reason for your account to be blocked, then your block will extend. Also Facebook makes sure that you don't do the same action in same frequency again after your profile is unblocked.

My advice is stay cool till Facebook unblocks you and then give friend requests/post status updates once or twice in day for a period of two or three weeks.

You never mentioned your model of your phone. Few phone do have this as an inbuilt feature where you could block a certain number, however for most of the other phone you could download blacklist software to block that particular number. You could also request your service provider to block a particular number, however most of them do not have any option to block that particular number.

They blocked the facebook in our office. Can you help me unblock it? Can I browse and open my facebook account on office? Thank you very much!

It probably has been blocked at the modem or router. You would have to have access to the modem or router which is usually 192.168.2.1 or something close to that. But you have to know user name and password. In the modem and even most routers have the ability to block particular websites that they may not want employees to access.
If the company is wanting to remove the block and doesnt know the password they can call the particular manufacturer of what ever brand it is and normally get it reset. Most dont have a forgotten password email option..
Sorry......

Block the particular website through registry

It cannot be done via the Windows Registry.

However, try:
Click START
Click RUN
Enter 'notepad \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts'
Press ENTER.

Add a line into the file:

127.0.0.1 www.ibm.com

and then 'File' and 'Save'.

This will cause all accesses to 'www.ibm.com' to *NOT* work.

I would just like to know how I can block a particular number through my 6060. Please don't tell me divert the calls; that's not the solution. T

here are just a few numbers from a couple of people that I don't ever want to receive any messages or calls from. My other friend's seem to able to block numbers on their more recent Nokia phones. Don't tell me the 6060 is too old fashioned to be able to do that?
