I have a Maytag Model mavt546eww that begins to fill, gets about 1 inch of water in it then stops. The lights on the rotary dial all start to flash and continue to flash about once every minute.

If the machine continues to fill even after the power has been switched off, this sounds like a stuck inlet valve. To identify the valve, look at your model in the "parts store" section of Maytag's website. The valve is item 21 on the "Control Panel, Top & Lid" drawing. underneath the agitator is a graphite seal ring and nut that seals the inner tub and the outer tub. a suitable spanner wrench or a 6 inch channel lock plier will remove this locknut. replace the seal.

it appears that you have a door switch problem. the door latches on these machines are equiped with a mechanical switch and if this switch disengages in any way, the machine thinks that the door is open, even if it's not.
the code that you see is actually a "dS", which stands for door switch.
check the door latch, which is where the door switch is located.

yes sounds like you have a siphon problm.thats a your drain hose .you can not seal it with tape.it must have some air and be higher than the washer tub
