I cant find a fuse for my invacare power chair without buying the whole battery harness !!!where can i find a square fuse that goes on the hot wire battery line???
I know what you're talking about, the thing weirded me out when I first saw it. You can remove it completely if you're willing to take the chance. Message me with the make, model and fuse amperage(probably something like 55 to 80) and I'll see if I can get those.I know what you're talking about, the thing weirded me out when I first saw it. Here are some other non-direct battery problems to check ... 1. Verify that the key is fully inserted into the key switch.
2. Verify that the battery pack is seated properly. If your scooter / wheelchair does not have a battery pack then check battery(s) cables & connections).
3. Verify that the battery quick-disconnect harness connections are fully joined.
4. Verify that the batteries are connected correctly, red to positive (+) and black to negative (-).
5. Verify that the main circuit breaker has not been tripped
It means the battery voltage has dropped below the operating range of the chair electronics. Either need new batteries or maybe a charger and new batteries. There is always a chance of loose battery harness connections.
You have to have a Invacare Remote Programmer to plug into the joystick and program different sensitivity levels. Sorry, there is no other way to adjust the joystick. Find a store that sells Invacare chairs and see if they can program your joystick. The programmers are expensive to buy and without training with one you could easily cause your chair to really drive bad to not drive at all.
First check if you have power present at the charging port. If you have power (24 volts) then the batteries and wiring are not the issue. If you don't then check the battery post fuses. These are "L" shaped brackets with a white square fuse held on the positive post with a through bolt and nut. On older chairs these are known to become loose and or blow just when you need power or stop suddenly.
Also check the big Anderson connectors at the power point at the end of the battery box. Check for solid connections. If there is 24 volts here to the control box, next check the controller connector.
If there is +24 at the controller connector but 0 at the joystick charger port you have big issues. Either the traces connectors in the controller are fried or your joystick has major issues.
Have you replaced the batteries ever? I was told by my local Invacare vendor that the batteries are only good for 12-18 months. My mom's Pronto M41 was having battery problems and replacing both batteries solved the problem in her chair bought in 2007. Now she is looking to buy a slightly used chair (4 mos old) from the family of a deceased friend and there seem to be issues with the batteries in this almost-new chair.
you are not to open and add water to your batteries they are supposed to be sealed. if you put unsealed batteries in your chair then you did not put in the correct batteries. Batteries from wal mart or any type of unsealed batteries will void any warranties on your chair. the fuse should not have blown if the batteries were put in correctly and you had the wrong batteries. You will have to contact Invacare directly to order a fuse or have a local provider order one for you. While your at it dump the batteries and purchase the correct batteries for your chair You need 2 U1 sealed deep cycle batteries. Check with a local interstate battery outlet or contact your provider to get you the proper batteries
Check that the speed control on your joystick is set to high. If it is then you probably have a battery problem. Even with all the lights lit on the joystick you can have one battery of the two on the chair that is not charging fully. This will cause the M51 to creep and not work correctly
Tripped breaker or blown fuse. Breaker will be 50 or 70 amp located at rear of chair where joystick harness plugs in. If there isn't one there you have fuses and will need to take the seat off to locate batteries. Inline with the batteries are two 50 or 70 amp automotive type fuses or a fuse "block" mounted to the battery. If they're burn't they will need replaced.
