My wife has this problem cuz she doesn't know the cameras outo focus if the thing she covers with her fingernail when she goes to take a picture. If your lens is clean and there is light then the camera is in focus some where even if not where it is supposed to be and you can figure that out easy. Take a measuring tape and extend it to 20ft (optical infinity) on the sidewalk then take a picture of the extended blade from about 6 to 12inches off the ground. You will see where it focused. now you can set a stuffed animal anywhere along the tape and test the auto focus. Half press of the button ( watch the fingers don't cover the sensor or the emitter. :-) Oh, if this doesnt work then you have purchased a camera that was dropped when it was open and damaged the alignment.
Try to set the camera mode in to auto Make sure the flash is set to auto Take pictures in different lighting condition outdoor and indoor Try do transfer pictures in the computer format the memory card and the internal memory If the pictures appears blurry the lens assemble on the camera or the sensor is defective...

There are 3 flash settings for your camera. While you are taking pictures, you set the flash by using the 4-way directional pad.
Push it to the right and make sure the setting shows a down crooked arrow with a circle around it (off), or, to where is says auto. In auto mode, it should only fire if it needs the light.

I've seen some of those white eyes photos.
Some are down right scary.
I'm sure you have encountered red-eye when taking flash photos of people.
With some animals, it is not red - but white.
....
Try to catch the animal looking away from the camera when you take that flash picture. Have someone distract him/her.
