MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format.
You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player. You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format:-

hi! you can try reformatting by activating the keylock and then press and hold the record key while turning the power on. it will go to the recovery mode.
plug the mp3 usb to your pc.
open a notepad apllication and create a new blank file. save as sansa.fmt and change save as type, it should be All Files. it will create a file with 0 bytes.
you can now disconnect the usb and wait til the mp3 displays formatting.. it will reformat by itself.
The songs that you are syncing may not be in the right format for this particular Mp3 player. Where did you get the songs? Q: What type of files can I play?
A: Mp3 and WMA files. DRM protected WMA files, such as those purchased from many online music services, must be copied to the player via Windows Media Player or the music management software compatible with your online music store.
The player does not support AAC file playback. (i.e: iTunes will not work)
Reformat in Windows Media Player instead.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

license from pc Go into your Control Panel and Add and Remove Programs. Make sure Show Updates is checked on top of the Window. Scroll down to the bottom and remove Hotfix for Windows Media Format 11 SDK (KB929399). Restart then resync your music to your player. Unfortunately, Windows continues to reinstall this "fix."
if that doesn't work try this
I reformatted the player, deleted and then re-downloaded the subscription tracks.
