I have charged it overnight but when i press and hold the power button it does not turn on. Is there something else i need to do to turn it on the first time?

Did you try formatting it?

If YES, download and update the firmware. It will be fine.

If NO, check if the HOLD/LOCK button is fine and in the right position.

My Ipod is frozen how do i fix this

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Allow it to charge overnight.

Leave the player connected for approximately 2 hours to charge. 2. Disconnect the player from the PC. 3. Verify if you can turn on the player. 4. Reset the player if necessary. To reset the player: 1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds. 2. Release the Power/Menu button. 3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player. If that does not do it, re-seat the battery: Then try and see if it will come on with out the battery hooked to your computer, which I see you have done but did you change modes MSC to MTP . next delete the song it keeps hanging on and re-copy it back on to the player from a different folder or re-rip it from the CD and copy it into a new folder then re-copy to the player.

Reset, make sure lock is not engaged, then
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
