Maytag Gemini Electric stove fault code F 1-2 when using the oven(s)

Lately when using our Maytag Gemini top or bottom oven(s) it will intermittently interrupt the cooking cycle and start beeping with an F 1-2 code. This interrupts the operations of the oven and occurs either when warming up or when it is first turned off.  It takes several cancels to make it finally stop and then it may work fine for several cooking periods before happening again. (Last night I had to cut to power off to make it stop.) Any ideas what is wrong?  Everything else seems to be fine.

I am having the same problem with my MER6770 except that we get the f1:2 error when we are using the top oven. Does this mean both sensors need to be replaced or is it in the control board?

I am having the same problem but when I use the top oven the alarm comes on saying F1-2 even when I turned the oven off it does this. How can I fix this??

  • Anonymous Jan 27, 2008

Had a similar problem this past xmas eve. The F1 code came up, and the oven stopped heating. Had the sensor replaced, but the bottom oven still does not heat, and the fault code comes up again. Just had the board replaced yesterday, and the problem is worse. When the circuit breaker was turned back on, both ovens heat up uncontrollably, even though neither oven is turned on. I have to turn off the circuit breaker to shut it off. Waitnig for the technician to get an answer from Maytag, and am now exploring all the different choices in microwavable frozen dinners.

We have the same Gemini product with the F1-2 error code. What is the best resolution to this problem.

Now it beeps and has F3

I set the timer on the oven for 15 hours instead of 15 minutes and I now can not figure out how to shut it off. I am in a rental and do not have the manual. Also I am afraid to pull the oven out and look for the model number but it is a Maytag Gemini Advanced cooking system. It has two ovens and is electric.

    error code F 1-2
    What is wrong?

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2014

The timer on my electric Maytag Gemini double oven is showing 12:00 and I can't cancel the action or reset it to -0-.

I tried holding the cancel button and the keep warm button for 3 seconds. It displayed "def."

But I don't know what to do next.

    What should I do?

We replaced both sensors a month ago and now F 1-2 is coming up again. Pretty disgusted with this oven.

The oven temp sensor has gone bad.  F1-2 would be for the lower oven and F1-1 would mean the upper oven.  If you give me the model # from the sticker on the oven I can direct you to a diagram, part #, and price.  These are very easy to replace.  Should be located inside the oven in the upper right or left hand side.  It looks like a silver rod about 4-8 inches long and crimped on the end.  Most of them can be removed from inside the oven by removing the two screws, pull out the sensor (harness and all) plug in the new sensor, put the screws back in and your done.  Some have to be removed from the back of the oven by removing the lower, larger back panel and follow the same process as mentioned above.  Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Maytag Gemini Electric stove fault code F 1-2 when using the oven(s)

I own the magtag gemini model MER 6770 AAW serial number 14882525YB the message I am getting from the panel is F 1-2 then it beeps until I cancel then sometimes it returns beeping. Sometimes the top oven cooks fine but if I try to cook with both ovens going it goes all crazy with beeps and shuts off and sometimes won't go over 100 degrees in both ovens. I am a very handy person and if someone can tell me how and what to replace I know I could do it. The repair center said it could be $300 plus to repair. My stove is 8 years old and I paid around $1300 for it I can't afford to replace it. HELP if it is out there otherwise I guess I will have to pay to repair it still cheaper then buying a new one...

My Maytag was older than I thought, so the thermastat was not available on line, but found one at a repair shop that worked. Thanks!

Maytag Gemini Stove Code F1-4 (bottom door won't open)

F-1 error is a Temperature Runaway. It Maytag's way of letting you know that oven overheated. Nothing you have done but it may have shorted out the oven sensor or the keypad. Check the sensor and see if it's closed. If it's okay, replace the keypad.

Maytag Gemini MER6772 keypad/ovens not working

I had same problem, error code F 1-8, shorted keypad. I was so frustrated I went ahead and tore it apart. There was a surprising amount of gunk and moisture between the plastic face and the actual contacts. I cleaned it up and let it dry out. It worked OK for a while, but the seal is not good, and moisture from baking is still getting into it. When it goes bad again, I'm going to take off the plastic face and just press the sensors with a pencil eraser. I'll probably replace the range within the year. No way I'm paying $385 for new pad + installation on 10 year old stove.

MER6770 Fault Code

No. just the one sensor part number 12001656. After paying a maytag repairman twice, I will now for the third time replace it myself, google the part number and you will see the different companies that sell it. Price runs up to 40.00, next time buy a different product and hope that Maytag goes out of business!!!! I know I will!!!
