SOURCE: Door hinge seems to be magnetic but can't get

The magnets on the door hinges and the ones on the inside of the oven must perfectly line up. If having problem getting hinge to fully extend, plug back with wadded up cardboard piece and shift door around until feel pull from magnets. Door should reset itself once magnets connect.
My door was installed off center and so the magnets are tilted. When I figured this out, it was a breeze.

My oven door cannot open fully

Hello
If your oven door cannot open fully, it could be due to several reasons:
  1. Obstruction: Check if there is any obstruction preventing the door from opening, such as a kitchen utensil or oven rack.
  2. Hinge problem: If the hinges are bent, damaged, or loose, the door may not be able to open fully. You may need to replace the hinges.
  3. Door gasket: If the door gasket (the rubber seal around the door) is damaged or out of place, it could be preventing the door from opening fully. You may need to replace the gasket.
  4. Control panel: If the control panel is damaged or not working properly, it could be affecting the door's ability to open. You may need to have the control panel repaired or replaced.
  5. Broken springs: If the springs that help balance the door are broken, the door may not be able to open fully. You may need to have the springs repaired or replaced.
If you're not comfortable performing these repairs yourself, it may be best to contact a professional appliance repair service for assistance.

I have a Miele H4250B oven in which the door hinge is broken. I have the replacement part, but I am not sure how to remove the old hinge from the oven

I have the same model Miele and ordered a replacement part. I have 2 Miele ovens side by side, and a door hinge on both ovens began to malfunction. I ordered and received the hinge , but when I started to install it, I found that the hinges were fine! The issue was that the 3 screws that hold the hinges to the oven frame came loose. One of them had fallen out on each of the doors, they had to be jiggled in order to close properly, which was not satisfactory. The ovens were installed 13 years ago by the original owners.

You will need to slide the oven out of its enclosed space and unscrew the sheet metal siding in order to gain access so that you can unhook the coil spring attached to hinge. I found that one of the small machine screws has fallen out on the 2 malfunctioning hinges. Once the spring is unhooked, you can align the hinge to screw it back in, and tighten the other screws that hold the door hinges. The screws on the other side has also become loose.

Oven door keeps open ay ideas about the fault cheers

Door Hinge

An oven door repair may be needed if the door hinge breaks or is bent out of shape. Oven doors have two door hinges, a left and right. On some ovens the same hinge is used, on other ovens the right hinge and left hinge have different part numbers. The door hinge sometimes is sold with all necessary parts and springs, other times the parts need to be ordered separately. An oven door repair for a door hinge is a relatively easy repair for a do-it-yourselfer.

Outer Door Glass

If the outer door glass is broken, it can be replaced. This oven door repair requires that the oven door be removed from the oven and layed down on a sturdy flat surface. The outer door glass is made of tempered glass. Use eye and hand protection when performing this oven door repair.

The oven door doesn't quite close properly. Thought it may have something to do wit the hinges but upon inspection I was unable to unscrew the the hinges to get a good look. Possibly could be the seal. I...

It sounds like the hinges may be going bad on you. You can inspect them if you want to.
  1. First pull out the broiler oven.
  2. Now you can lift up on the oven door and remove it.
  3. The springs in these hinges have a lot of tension in them. Please be very careful when doing testing the hinges.
  4. Now take a pair of pliers and carefully grab the hinge and pull it towards the the oven.
  5. The hinge should be able to set itself up against the frame of the oven itself. If it does not then that hinge will need replaced.
  6. Check the other hinge.
  7. I am willing to bet that at least one of the hinges needs replaced.

Oven door not closing properly

If it is a drop down door with hinges on the bootom of the oven door, then it is likely to be weak door hinge springs, the usual solution is to replace both hinges.
If it is a swing open door, then the problem is related to a worn or broken door catch, or worn striker pin.

Oven door hinge adjustment...?

Regarding the oven door not closing all the way and dropping suddernly to the floor, I called a local authorized service company and asked if there was a door spring (no). So the recommended solution is to have the hinges replaced. However, since the oven door didn't really hold its open position from the beginning, when it was brand new back in 01, I'm going to see if a new Viking oven has the same defect as ours. Then, it would seem like a good idea to take a chance on having it repaired.

Is replacing a set of oven door hinges something a person with reasonable mechanical aptitude can do?
