Sony NWZ-S615F Walkman Video MP3 Player Logo

Won't connect to the computer.

When I first got my walkman, even if it didn't connect to the computer when I plugged it in it would always turn on as soon as I put the USB cord in.
But now it doesn't turn on when I do, it doesn't charge, and I on the off chances when it does respond to the computer, I get a message that says it can't recognize the device. I've put the installation disk back in and tried to re install it and all that but nothing seems to be working. And I know it's not a problem with the chord or computer because my brother's works fine.

And ideas?

SOURCE: mp3 will not connect with my computer

I'm pretty sure I fixed a similar problem. Go to your device manager on your PC and uninstall the walkman driver. After this is complete just plug the walkman back into you Pc and the plug and play will download the driver again. This worked for me. My operating system is Windows vista.

SOURCE: Sony Walkman NWZ-A826 will not conect to laptop via usb cable

I experienced exactly the same problem on my laptop (Vista Home Premium) after upgrading to NIS 2009.

From Control Panel, I went to Device Manager. Under Portable Devices there was a yellow exclamation mark aginst my walkman (Micosoft Code 19 error). I read around a bit before deciding to click Uninstall. Once that was complete, I clicked on Scan for hardware changes, and hey presto my walkman was recognised again.

This is almost certainly connected with NIS 2009 installation as my walkman was recognised by another laptop (XP) which is NIS 2009-free.

SOURCE: nwz-e438f will not play, or connect to computer

Please try connecting the Walkman to a different USB port on the Computer and check if that helps.

Please make sure that there is no other USB devices connected to the Computer at the same time.

If there was no change after the player was reset, connect it to the computer and reset it again, leaving it connected.

Keep the Walkman connected to the Computer for 4 hours to fully charge the battery. Then, check whether the Walkman is working properly.

Ensure that the HOLD switch is not activated.

If the issue still persists after performing the steps provided above service of the Walkman is required.

MY SONY WALKMAN CANNOT BE OPENED, IT LIGHTS UP THEN TURNS OFF IMMEDIATELY

What do you mean "MY SONY WALKMAN CANNOT BE OPENED"? If you mean that you can't get to the battery, then you should look at the charging piece in the MP3. If it wiggles or moves in any way, then there is no way to fix it. I myself had that problem once, and it needs charged, but won't take a charge for some reason. I glued the piece in place with super glue which didn't help, and even put a drop of water on it to see if the electricity needed a material to carry it. That didn't work either. I gave up, as there are no screws, so you can't put it back together. I would suggest getting a new one, getting a new charger, or taking it to the store you bought it at. If that doesn't work, then bring it to RadioShack and ask for help. It's worth a try. Or, as I always add at the end, continue looking on the computer.

Not charging even i plug in my computer and not recognize

Hi,

The Computer will not recognize the Walkman when connected, if it is not having enough charge. You can try connecting the Walkman Player to the working USB port on the Computer for 2 hours and check if the player is getting charged. I suggest that you also perform the steps mention on the article given here. Click here to view the steps to troubleshoot the issue.

My Walkman.. is Loading forever and cannot open

1.Try resetting the Walkman by pressing the RESET button located on it. It looks like a small hole. You can use any pin or any sharp pointed object to reset it.
Then connect back the Walkman to check whether it works.

2. Use the supplied USB cable to connect the Walkman to the Computer.
3. Disconnect all other USB devices if you have connected to avoid conflict.
4.Connect the Walkman to the other USB ports on the Computer.
5.Check whether the USB Driver is installed in the Computer or if it is corrupted.
You can check whether the USB Driver is corrupted or not by following steps below(only for Windows Operating System).
Right-click on MyComputer icon and select "Manage".
Then, select Device Manager at the left plane.
Then check whether any "Unknown device" or "?" or "!" is listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the bottom of the right pane.
If there is so, then right-click on it and select uninstall.
This will un-install the USB Driver.
Then, un-plugg the USB cable and plug-it in.

Sony Walkman SUDDENLY won't connect to my computer

What you can try doing is to uninstall the driver that the computer has installed for it. To do this, right click on My Computer/Computer (depending on your OS it has different names) click properties, and then manage. Once that opens, on the left menu, select Device Manager. From there, plug in your MP3 player, double click to get to its properties, and then uninstall it. restart your computer, and hopefully that should fix it so you can get into it and format it. If you have any problems, repost and i can try helping you more. Sean Huffstickler

My Walkman will not power up or charge.

I just solved a similar problem with my Walkman. When I'd plug it into my computer, it wouldn't charge. I read in the troubleshooting section of the manual that it could be a problem with the computer or its USB connection. I connected my mp3 player to a different computer and it charged fine. If it's not responding at all, you may want to try the reset button (if your model has it).
Hope that helps!

Can't connect to computer with NWZ-A816 Sony walkman.

I figured it out!

It used to be that when I plugged my walkman into my PC, the screen would read "connecting" but would never actually connect, so I couldn't add/remove songs from the walkman or even recharge it. The solution is easy. Plug your walkman into your PC, and then go to

Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Portable Devices --> Walkman

If you have the same problem as me, the Walkman icon will appear with a yellow exclaimation mark, signifying a problem. Just right click the icon, and selecte "Uninstall". After that, the driver will be removed from the PC. Now, unplug your walkman from the PC, and then re-plug it in, and the driver on the Walkman will automatically upload to the PC, and everything should be back to normal and the Walkman should work perfectly.

The problem is that the Walkman driver in the registry was partially damaged somehow (I think during a registry clean up I did earlier). Just uninstall it, reinstall it by plugging in your walkman to the PC, and voila. Let me know how it works for y'all!
