As others have said, the most common fault with the ZV series is the power socket. However, you mentioned the Lightning Bolt. This indicates that the battery is being charged and it should go out as soon as the battery is fully charged.
If the Lightning Bolt flashes on and off regularly, especially when the power cable is moved, then the socket is at fault and needs replacing.
You can check to see if the battery is receiving a charge by doing the following
1. Right Click the Desktop
2. Click Properties
3. Click the Screen Saver tab
4. Click the Power button
5. Click the Power Meter tab
This will tell you the computer's current power source and whether the battery is charging.
I have replaced several of these sockets on ZV5000s and I'm sure the 6000 will be similar. I would not recommend this job for anyone without technical knowledge, despite some of the websites that say you can do it yourself. You will need to strip the entire laptop down and all but remove the motherboard before the socket can be replaced.
Hope this helps
1) The laptop shuts off when AC power adapter is plugged in.
Possible cause:
1. Power adapter failure.
2. Motherboard failure.
First of all, test the power adpater. Make sure the apdapter outputs correct voltage. It's possible that the outup voltage is not correct and the laptop shuts down to prevent the damge. Test your laptop with anohter known good power adapter.
If the problem still exists, even after replacing the adapter, most likley it's the motherboard failure. Replace the motherboard.
2) If you can hear the buzzing noise from a few feet away and it gets very hot, that means your ac adapter is failing.

The AC jack probably went bad. Find someone who can fix it, if its worth it.
Thats about it.
