I can't get Quark Xpress 9 to launch

Go to: C:\ProgramData\quark and delete all sub folders and files present there.

If that doesn't makes any difference in your case than you can run System File Checker (sfc).

You may try uninstalling Quark, rebooting the computer and re-install it.

If at all you don't get any help with that as well than you can try performing system restore.

Running Mac OS X (Snow Leopard)....Quark 7 will not launch due to damaged application preference....says to delete file and relaunch....that does not work... Also....when Quark was working on OS X (Snow...

It could be that your quark preferences have corrupted, I would go to your users folder then go into the library folder, then the preferences folder and then the quark folder within the quark folder there should be a file called "XPress Preferences.prf" move this to the trash (But do not delete it yet). When you open quark next it will recreate the preference file and hopefully that will sort it out. If this has corrected the problem you can then deleted the file in the trash. Please note that you will have to reset your preferences once you open Quark again.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I have QuarkXpress 6.5 on my computer at home and I need to open some files I created in QuarkXPress 8.1 at my former company. I have moved overseas and I'm trying to print out some things for my...

There's really no direct way to open an 8.1 file in 6.5. Quark doesn't make it easy to do these things. The only thing you can do is save 8 down to 7 down to 6, but there's a lot of new stuff between the versions, so if you had the access to do that, you'd most likely lose formatting and information.

Some Quark 6.1 files crash when I open them on my Mac OS X 10.6.2. Can you help? Thanks!

Not sure if this is exactly a solution, but usually these crashes are font issues. You could try deactivating fonts in your Suitcase, or font manager, then opening the files. Quark has a hard time with font conflicts, and usually just crashes without letting you know that was the problem.

Want to convert Quark 7.3 file to Quark 4.1 so it can be read by InDesign.

Thats not possible.
QuarkXPress 7 would allow you to downsave to a QuarkXPress 6 document but not to QuarkXPress 4.

you would have to open the document in QuarkXPress 6 then save to version 5, then open the same in QuarkXPress 5 and then downsave to 4

Quark xpress 6.5 crashing

Try updating Quark first and reopen the document, if the problem persists, remove the preference file - this may have become corrupt.
Often a Quark crash is related to corrupt fonts, or fonts sharing the same id number as others already on the machine. Do you use a font manager such as Suitcase?

Having problems with Quark 6.5 since upgrading to 10.4.11. It crashes unexpectedly especially when using magnif. tool. Is there a conflict with Quark 6 5 and OS 10 4 11? If so how can it be repaired?

You most likely do need to upgrade Quark. There is a known problem with 6.5 and Tiger, since 10.4 was a major departure from Jaguar, which Quark 6.5 was designed for.

Before you do that though, you might want to explore font cache issues that can also cause this. Here's a free tool and writeup on the subject: http://www.jamapi.com/pr/fn/

Quark 6.5 Error code -39 in a Mac platform

in this case try creating a preferences folder under the HDD>>Applications>>quarkXPress 6.x folder and then check the results.
if it still continues then try to downsave the document to version 5 by doing a file>>save as and changing the version to 5 from there
