The pitch control need to be cleaned. You will have the remove the bottom to do this. It will require servicing. It could also be PCB board that that controls the pitch or a bad motor.

SOURCE: Sony PS-LX250H turntable speed adjustment on underside, how??

Great detective work.

Let's collaborate on this for the benefit of others who may have the same problem.

L.IN should be the point at which the Lead-In groove on the LP would be, where the tonearm will drop to play an LP
RET should be the point at which the tonearm will lift up and RETurn to its rest at the end of the LP

That leaves us with SW. If your source is right this will affect the Speed. I can't imagine what the W stands for.

Since this turntable lacks the traditional strobe light and dots along the platter rim for determining if it's on target speed-wise we have to improvise and make a Strobe Disc.

It has radial marks on it and you place it on the turntable like a record. The lights in your room running at 60hz will make it appear to be stationary if the speed is correct; slowly creeping CW if too fast; CCW if too slow.

Here's a link to a PDF from which you can print your own disc... http://www.extremephono.com/ftp/60Hz.PDF

Here's what you do. Lay the trimmed Strobe Disc on top of a record while it's playing one of the outer tracks. This is because the stylus imparts some drag so we want to factor it in.

Then adjust the screw exactly one turn Clockwise and note how the speed has changed. Trial and error should get you to where you want to be.

SOURCE: my pioneer PL990 turntable, the pitch wavers.

try cleaning the inner ring on the underside of the actual turntable platter and also the motor spindle using isoprynol alcohol or use neat clear spirits like bacardi/vodka with cotton wool etc. if black residue comes off either the platter or the motor spindle that will be residue from the old belt that could cause the fluctuation in speed? good luck.

SOURCE: sound wavers (speeds up and slows down)

you need to replace the Pitch controls. I'm presuming it is a sliding pitch control. Use the Red start stop lights that reflect on the rotating wheel. put the pitch in center 0. does one row of the dots on the wheel stay completely still.now just turn it up op down a bit until it starts to move the dots slightly. now watch the dots now while there moving. Do they fluctuate they should be smoothe. do this on both decks to find out which one is fluctuating.

Adjust pitch not working on PS T1 Sony

Try looking underneath the turntable. There might be two speed presets one for 45 and one for 33. They could be covered up by stickers.

Sony Turntable PS-T33 stops turning

first check if its loosing elasticity in the belt or coming over, you want the belt to be in good condition and not worn out. after checking that you also want to check the mechanisms that drive that and check voltage on psu

My records that are 33 and 1/3 don't play at that speed on my turntable. they sound more like a 30 speed, what do I do

Hello Rosie,

Some turntables have a pitch adjustment feature which allows you to speed up or slow down your records. The adjustment controller is usually a slider or a wheel somewhere on the turntable and is usually labelled "Pitch" "Adjust / Adj" or "Pitch Adj".

Please check for this feature on your turntable then get back to me if you are unable to find it. Please include the brand and model number of your turntable.

Hope this helps.

I have a Sony PS-LX210, and need to adjust the speed. Going by the music it's played, it's just a bit slow on 33 RPM (I don't know about 45). I find no external adjustments, but there are some trim pots...

According to anything I can find online, like any decent turntable it has a manual pitch control. Unfortunately, I can't find a manual or even a good close-up picture.

This is the best one I've found.

I have a Sherwood PD - 913 R and the pitch seems to be spinning out of sync which makes the RPM"s not right for 33 or 45 speeds, any help on what could be the cause is appreciated. There is a pitch...

The turntable motor might be the problem, if the grease is old it becomes hard causing the turntable to run slow, by your description we can rule that out since you indicate it runs to fast. therefore it is the voltage that powers the motor with a regulator "keeps voltage constant" or the motor itself will be the problem. The pitch control allows a small change in speed when required.

Sony Belt Drive Turntable Platen speed

Check for grease on the platter or anywhere in the mechanism. Sometimes somebody has messed around with the speed preset, there might be two. You could try adjusting them. Sometimes they are found on the underside of the turntable, covered up, or they will be on the PC board of the deck.

Slow speed

Hi,

What model do you have?

It could be a few things. It may be as simple as an adjustment to the pitch control (if your table has one), it could be the pitch control itself or something more serious.

Is it Belt-driven or Direct drive?
