Try this, go to control pnel, select sound, audio and make sure your audio device is displayed in the Sound playback and Sound recording field, if it is not listed in the drop down you will need to reinstall the driver.
You can go into the device manager to reinstall the driver for your audio device or from the CD that came with your system or from the manufacturer web site.

hi,
i install audio driver but not able to control volume and saw in taskmanager that a yellow mark is on multimedia audio controller .then i install this HD audio drver from realtek at it is working.
