We bought a new Phillips model 32PFL3504D a few days ago. It goes thru phases where it looses power or shuts itself off & then comes back on. It will repeat this over & over for maybe up to 30 minutes then it will run just fine for hours. What could be the cause of the problem? Setup? Or should we take the TV back? THANKS for your help

It could be several things but I'd start with a main board, the fact its shutting off kind of drives me away from Tcon as that shouldn't shut the set down if there was an issue there, it also could be power supply, you could test the voltages from the board once it starts giving issues and if some are off then change the power board.
I don't think you had backlight issues like you thought you did as the set should have shut down the backlights totally as soon as it sensed over voltage or over current, I'd try a new main board and see if that fixes things up for you
This tv is having a power supply board issues, that the electronic board where the tv power a/c cord plug into it.This is a new tv.Return the tv where u bought it quickly and get a new tv replacement.
I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

not if it keeps repeating the same cycle over and over..it cost 300 once and if you have it fixed again thats another 300 and if it happens again so on and so on....
It might be a problem with the computer. I would advise going back to where you bought it and returning it to either get a new one or a different one. Glad I Helped!

it sounds like it may be a capacitor problem and it may be linked to the electricity you receive adding a battery back up of sufficient quality will smooth out the electric current and also **** up the spikes from the power and light company. I have seen many aquas suffer from capacitor failure but it may be an expensive fix. check your electric output and see if it can handle the load for this tv.
