It doesn't work at all
There's no heat
It won't tumble
Drying is too slow

SOURCE: my dryer is not blowing air out of the vent

The hose is clogged. This is a fire hazzard not to mention it takes forever to dry the clothes right?

Try cleaning out the hose ends first. If the entire pipe is clogged its usually easier to replace the hose than clean it.
Also, if the hose is not aluminized or metal of some kind it is a fire hazzerd and needs replacement anyway.

SOURCE: the dryer is not staying hot to dry the clothes.

Sounds like the overheat is tripping, usually due to lint clogging the exit inside the dryer and inside the pipe.

Dryer functions seem normal, barrel rolls, air is circulating and it feels hot, however clothes are not dry after several cycles/hours.

The most common problem for a dryer to take more than one cycle to dry is restricted air flow.

1.when the dryer is running go outside and find where the venting is located, there should be a good amount of air flow.
2. if the air flow is not good look at the ducting coming from the back of the dryer and make sure it is not kinked or pushed back to far.
there is usually lint build up some where along the ducting or at the end of the duct where it vents to the outside.
3. if you have access to a leaf blower, this can be used to help clear any lint build up inside the duct from the dryer to the outside venting.
move your dryer out and take the leaf blower tube and stick it in the hole and turn it on.
the vented louvers need to be removed from the ouside of the house to allow the lint and things in the duct work to be blown out.

The dryer is not drying as good as it should be and it will display the following letters AF

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Your AF error code is most likely an "Air-Flow error. Long drying times are ALWAYS cvaused by poor air-flow in a dryer.

Since you did not include a "Make and Model number" this reponse is generic.

The causes are many.
1. Go outside and check the thru the wall dryer duct flapper. Make sure it is free of lint.
2. Pull the lint filter and wash it with vinegar. The water then soap and water with a very good fresh water rinse.
3. Inspect the area where the lint filter is installed for any signs of lint build up. Use a crevice tool and a stretched out and folded in half wire coat hanger (Looped) to reach deep onto the lint build up areas so you can remove the lint with a crevice tool and Vacuum.
4. Remove the vent duct from the back of the dryer and check the air-flow. The air-flow should push a relaxed hand / wrist gently away from the dryer vent hole with the dryer on. If you do not get this kind of aor flow you will need to ensure all of the lint has been removed from the internal dryer ducting. If your sure the ducting is clear and you stil have poor air-flow then most likely the blower wheel has failed, Most of the time the center hub will crack and the blower wheel will not turn at full speed. Other times a fan blade breaks and blocks the ducting.
5. Use a flash light and look into the vent duct hole on the back of the dryer. Check for a restricted duct. Clean as necessary.
The above are the most common reasons for higher electric bills and long drying times.
Have a 2nd person look for lint after your done cleaning! The more eyes the better.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Whirlpool dryer Cabrio 6 months old. message on screen is "AF" what does that mean?

Code AF means the air flow is blocked.
Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.
Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum.

What does AF error mean on Cabrio electric dryer

AF on your Cabrio means the Air Flow is being obstructed. Make sure the vent is secure and free of debris at the back of the appliance. Also ensure there is no obstruction where it is vented outside of your home. Lastly, make sure the lint trap is clean. Your dryer will still run normally, but it's best to go through your checklist so no further issues arise.

Hi. I have a Bosch WTE84100 Dryer which leaks water and produces very hot damp clothes after several hours of drying. The dryer is just two years old and I don't know what to do?

Hi. You have a venting issue. The moist air is not getting out of the dryer and is building up inside the venting. Look behind the unit and make sure the vent is not crimped or crushed, probably best just to replace the venting. As well, you may need to have the duct from the wall to the outside cleaned by a duct service. I'd replace the flexible duct from the dryer to the wall first (you can get this at a hardware store, 4" dryer flex duct) and then run the dryer and go outside to see if you feel any air coming out of the exterior vent. If not, then have someone out to clean it. Good luck, hope this helps.

What does af mean on the dryer screen

af ,stands for air flow could be a kinked exhaust vent hose, or a restricted or cloged exhaust duct going outside.

My dryer gets really hot to the touch on the outside in the back and the on the top than it do on the inside and i have to dry my clothes several times for the to get dry

your vent duct is probably plugged. Turn on your dryer and go outside and put your hand in front of the vent and check for air movement. If you do not feel any air then you need to clean or replace the vent tube. Do Not use your dryer until you get this fixed it can be a fire hazard. Another thing it could be is one of your breakers needs to be reset.

good luck

WILL NOT DRY

Check that the dryer duct at the back where it connects the dryer to the wall has not collapsed to restrict air movement to the house vent duct.

Check that the vent duct all the way to the outside of the house is not fully or partially restricted in any way.

Make sure the lint screen is clean.

Make sure there is no buildup of lint inside the dryer where the heat enter the drum.

You should be able to walk outside with the dryer running, and feel a blast of air exiting the dryer vent. If not, find the restriction.

A dryer warming up, and then shutting down is normally a sign of a restricted vent duct at some point in the system. Particularly if nothing is done, and the dryer heats up momentarily when the cycle is tried again.

Reply back your findings for further instruction or information.

Dryer is displaying AF

i got this from the other site.

The code AF indicates that the control senses a restricted air flow. To clear the code, press STOP once and the estimated time remaining countdown will return to the display. The AF code will continue to appear with each cycle until the low airflow condition is resolved.
Try the following troubleshooting to resolve the air flow problem:
  • Clean the lint screen.
  • Check at the outside of the home to make sure that the vent exhaust hood is not blocked.
  • Check the flexible vent connection behind your dryer. Make sure that it is not kinked or clogged.
  • You can disconnect the flexible vent and start a cycle with the dryer venting directly into your laundry room. If the AF code does not appear, this will verify an exhaust vent duct problem. Otherwise you may have a component failure.
  • Have your home dryer venting run cleaned professionally.

hope i was able to fix your problem,

tnx 4 using fixya,

Dryer takes more than one cycle to dry clothes

Did you clean the entire length of the vent ducting? Or, did you only clean the lint trap on the dryer and the exhaust vent outside? If you didn't clean the ducting as well, you may still have a clog somewhere causing your dryer to be "starved" for air. A dryer needs proper air flow to dry properly. One way to check is to turn the dryer on and go outside to the exhaust vent opening. Feel to see if you have sufficient air flow. If the air flow is weak, you have a clog. If not, you may have a high limit thermostat cutting off prematurely, not allowing the heating element to heat long enough. Check your ducting first and let me know if this helps.
