I have a d-link dir-615 password won't work need to reset it.

If you go to this link, it contains all of the documentation from D-Link about the 615 - Just pick the correct country and revision of router.

hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10 seconds and the router should reset back to factory settings and you have to set it up again. Here's the manual though. bottom of page 62. instruction if you forgot password. But it works the same.

If you need your Password on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank. Go to the Wireless Settings and under Security Mode you'll find the Network Key or Passphrase. You can also Personalize you Network Key or Passphrase so that you can easily remember it.

If this doesn't work you can press the reset button at the back of the router for 10-15 seconds using a pen or a paper clip.

Simply reset the router to factory default by pressing reset button on back side of router. Then you can configure it with new setting.

To reset the D-Link back to the default settings, Press and hold the RESET button and then power up the D-Link. Hold the RESET button for 5 secs until the LEDs flash.
Now you can enter the default login & password.

You need to connect the modem to your computer via the cat-5 cable.
To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear of the unit. With the router power on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait for 30 seconds to access the router. The default address is 192.168.0.1 when logging in, the username is "admin" and leave the password box empty.

Depending on the device, if you still can connect to it using your browser (LAN not wireless), login into the router and in settings go to factory reset. If not, there usually is a small opening on the unit that your can insert a pencil/pen tip to push and do a factory reset that will eliminate your password issue.
If you have not tried a reboot, do that first before doing a factory reset.
