same problem - plugged in, no light comes on, no charging taking place. Tried several USB ports on multiple computers with identical results.

Same exact problem for me as well. I've been trying to contact Kodak's customer support but their support on their 1800 number isn't open on the weekends and their online chat support is always busy. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I have also tried charging it on two seperate computers. It doesn't work with either. We purchased the camera on Black Friday and haven't even had a chance to use it yet. :(

Same problem. Tried a second battery at the cost of $14. Still no charge light when I plug in camera to charge.

I'm having the same problem with my MD853. Installed the software on 2 different computers (one of them was a *#$% vista). Eventually I found out that if I REALLY JAMMED the USB cable into the camera, the thing would actually transfer the pictures.

This is no way to go. I'll be taking it back.

I also am having this problem. Camera charged a little bit the first time (before using but now nothing. Green light comes on for a second and then a red light blinks 3x and it's dead. Tried plugging into 3 computers (2 desktop PCs and a laptop) but no difference.

I'm having the same issue. Just started a few weeks ago. I was able to get it working intermittently for a while by setting it to TV mode, 15 sec delayed photo and removing the batteries 7 sec. after snapping a picture. But now I can't get any trick to work. Of course it is a weekend now so I'll have to wait till Monday to call customer support. I'm hoping I can get it repaired free of charge as some of you have been able to. Perhaps I'll mention this thread and the others I've researched with 100s of other S2IS owners with the same problem!

I've had my camera for a long time so I don't think I'll get the option of taking it back and exchanging it but I keep having the same charging problem. I just tried the flash button trick... the green light is on, steady, and holding. I'm not going to touch it any more and I hope that if I leave it this way for a bit it'll charge up.

My advice is to NOT LET THE BATTERY RUN DOWN past half charge, otherwise it won't have enough power to stay on long enough to register the fact that its plugged in to the computer.

I contacted Kodak today about this problem. After some trouble shooting he confirmed it was something wrong with the camera and gave me the option of sending it in to be fixed or exchanging it at the store I bought it from for a new one. I chose to take it back to Target and exchange it for a new camera. The customer service associate made the comment "... another one brought back because it won't charge." which leads me to believe this is an issue a lot of people are having. My new camera seems to charge ok so far.

If you still have the box and are able to take the camera back to the store where you made your purchase, that is the quickest and easiest way to fix this issue. If you cannot do that call Kodak at 1-800-235-6325 and they will set up a repair order for you.

I just got mine to work. Hook up camera via usb cable and then press flash button on top of camera. That will make your green charging light come on. I am gonna check back on my camera in a few hours to see if light goes out and battery charges.

I'm having a hard time getting my Flip HD to charge. It is brand new and this is the first time I've had to charge it. Sometimes the red light is on and steady and other times the red light is flashing. ...

I had this charging problem with 2 new Flip Ultra HD cameras...red light flashing..nothing on the screen after plugging in the USB port.

I removed the battery..plugged camera into USB port..pc recognized the camera... installed flipshare software..updated software...plugged battery back in..all good.

Why on earth the book doesn't mention these steps is beyond me.

Can i charge my kodak M341 using usb port using a pc.

Yes, if the computer puts enough juice into its USB port; not all computers do. If you have ports on both the front and back of your computer, try the back. Otherwise plug the USB cord into the wall charger supplied with the camera.

My camera wont start, it wont even charge please help

Hi,
There is a problem in your battery either you need to replace it or you can try to charge it through USB.

If you want to charge your camera through USB follow the instruction:-
1) In the computer turn OFF the hibernate, sleep or stand by Mode. 2) Turn OFF the camera. 3) Connect the your camera to the computer through USB Cable. 4) Wait for your camera battery to charge (Approx. 3 hours)
This may resolve your problem, Else you need to replace your battery

Rating the solution is highly appreciated...Good Luck

My camera is not charging

I got this camera from my friend's daughter. She told me she only used it a few times and won't charge. At first, I tried to charge it thru the USB port, got a brief green light then 3 red blinks just like others. So, I tried to charge it thru a powered USB hub and it charges. Once it fully charged, I took some pictures and tried to charge it again thru a regular USB (not the powered USB hub I used earlier) and it is charging right now. This is also true for a certain cell phones. If you let the battery drained its power completely all the way, you must charge it with a high current charger to wake up the battery before you can charge thru USB port.

Charging camera

Are you using the front usb ports on your computer? My computer's front usb ports were not able to charge my camera, but the rear usb ports were able to (the charging light should stay on if it's charging correctly). I'm not an expert on this stuff, so maybe there's a power output difference between your frontal and rear usb ports.

Also, on the CD there was a camera connection driver. You might try installing that and see if that makes a difference?

Kodak easyshare m853 digital camera

is the light that's coming on green or red?
if it's red, there's a charging error - contact kodak, they may provide a 5v ac adapter to resolve your charging issue

if it's green, was it blinking or solid? is the battery drained?
if the battery still has a little charge on it, please connect it to the computer then turn it on, check if there's power light
check if the screen is black - that means it's making a connection and the charging is the only issue - computer not detecting it, maybe resolved by kodak's software support

if the camera screen is active - that means there's definitely something wrong with the camera

arrange repairs with kodak, include the battery and usb cable

Not charging

does the charging light come on. if it does the battery is charging is it plugged into a usb hub if so the camera will not charge. it has to be connect to the computers usb port directly.also some computers have a built in usb hub witch cause this to happen. try using the usb plugs in the back they are diffrent addresses. also check you cable for any damage. I thing about USB is they are touchy pains. I had to fully reload my computer twice because of a USB problem best thing to do is get a seperate charger for your battery and a memory card reader to transfer your pictures.
