SOURCE: Kenmore Fridge, freezer compartment is cold

Should be around 10 degrees.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

SOURCE: Refrigerator water condensation drain line freezing

GO TO THE FREEZER PORTION OF THE FRIG.YOU NEED TO TAKE THE ICEMAKER OUT AND REMOVE THE BACK PANEL WHERE THE EVAPORATER FAN IS .RIGHT UNDER THE COIL YOU WILL SEE A DRAIN ,WHEN YOUR FREEZER GOES ON DEFROST THE WATER GOES DOWN THE DRAIN AND INTO A PAN THAT SITS ON TOP OF THE COMPRESSOR.THE HEAT FROM THE COMPRESSOR EVAPORATES THE WATER.THE DRAIN IN THE FREEZER IS PROBABLY CLOGGED OR FROZEN OVER WITH ICE AND THATS WHY THE WATER IS GOING ELSEWARE.REMOVE ALL THE ICE FROM AROUND THE DRAIN.IF THERES A ROD THAT GOES DOWN THE DRAIN FROM THE DEFROST ELEMENT THATS SUPPOSED TO KEEP THE DRAIN FROM ICING UP ,IN ANY CASE THE DRAIN IS CLOGGED OR ICED UP.UNCLOG THE GRAIN AND YOU WILL BE GOOD TO GO.

Will it affect the function of the freezer if panel covering evaporator coils is off

Sounds like the air circulation fan isn't running. The air must be circulating to freeze. First tip off is the coils are iced up, second, unit isn't freezing. Find the fan inside the freezer and check that it will turn and it's not stuck. Sometimes a little 3 n 1 oil on the bearing shaft into the motor is all it takes to get it running again.

Freezer side not freezing

Check for ice / frosting inside the freezer .... If present you probably have a defrost problem.... This causes the freezer coil to ice up and block the air flow ... the causes could be a bad defrost heater , defrost timer, defrost sensors, or control board. Also make sure that the condenser coil is clean. remove ALL dust with a vacuum and a coil brush .the coil is located either on the bottom or on the back side of the unit... You didn't give the Make and model #

Magic chef freezer model mcuf88w won't freeze

When you thawed it, did you remove ice from it using a metal object. That may have damaged the coils when would allow freon to leak out. This is too coincidental to be a problem itself with the compressor. The t'stat might be the problem. Try turning it off at the t'stat for a few minutes, then turn back on to the normal setting. Keep door closed for 30 minutes and check the inside and see if the walls are freezing. If not, you may have a compressor problem, or t'stat, or relay switch problem.

I have a Samsung bottom freezer top fridge RB215LASH. Water leaks from the inside back panel down under the crisper. The drain is not clogged. Their is no problem with the evaporator coils freezing...

OK, first there is only two ways water can be entering the fridge under any circumstances, one is through the Ice Maker feed line coming from your wall to the back of the fridge and into the ice maker. The other is from the ice trays themselves leaking or overflowing or the filter itself is leaking. Look at the side walls of your refrigerator, are there water streaks running down the side? Have you reset the ice maker since you did your repairs? Have you replaced the filter lately?

Usual Causes

If the water pressure is too high, the ice tray can over fill or water can splash out. You can turn the supply shutoff valve to reduce the water flow. See the diagram below. If the ice cube tray has residual pieces of ice in the bottom, remove the pieces by pressing the reset button. You may have to do this several times to clear all the ice out of the tray.

Get back to me and I know you provided a lot of information, but this is a inline water issue relating to the ice maker and not really thinking it could be anything else. So if you can give me more information about the form in which this happens, such as you find the water after the trays are filled or if this is a constant but minimal flow, large flow, we can concentrate our plan towards this are of the repairs and diagnosis. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Ice maker has stopped making ice. Infa-red light on inside doesn't seem to be working

One of the causes of ice maker not producing ice is a bad solenoid valve allowing water to pass by and causing the water line to freeze inside the freezer. In other words, if the valve is not holding very well, it will allow water to pass in the line that supplies water to the ice maker. A small drip will ensue and slowly freeze in the line and eventually turn into an ice plug that will prevent water from filling the ice tray. Thawing out the freezer will not solve the problem, you will have to replace the solenoid valve.

P.S.Test the solenoid valve coil and disconnect the line from the valve to verify that it is not allowing water to pass when not energized. Test the infra red module according the manufacturer's instructions if you have them at hand. If the solenoid valve is good and the infrared sensor system is bad , replace it (Infrared system) . The ice maker should be the last part to consider for replacement at this time.

Bread gets ice inside the bags, bread hard when thawed in places cannot use for sandwiches so i am throwing it out.The freezer was my Sisters so i use it as an extra to the chest one i have. Does this...

Sounds to me like it is taking the freezer to long to actually freeze the bread, and therefore the ice formation. It could be due to a dirty coil, a bad seal, or like you mentioned an old unit. I would clean the coils and ensure proper door alignment. If this does not help, but you would like to continue using the freezer, make sure to put anything you are going to store into the refrigerator first, or pre-freeze in you other unit. Hope this helps

My freezer on my Frigidaire is not fully freezing?

Take the back panel off inside your freezer compartment and check to see if the defrost coils are frozen over. If they are, you can use a hair dryer to defrost them or just let it sit for a day with a fan blowing on them.

ICe build-up on coils and frezer does not freeze after a few weeks from thawing.

Check the defrost timer which may be behind the kick-plate, inside the control panel or an Adaptive Defrost Control (motherboard) on the back.
