The latest iPod Nano includes a locking feature, which allow users to set a four-digit combination to keep intruders from using the device. However, if you find that you forget what code you set on your iPod, you will need an alternate way of unlocking your iPod Nano. Once the device has been successfully unlocked, you can continue listening to music on it.
Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of the iPod Nano. Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on a Mac or PC computer. Open the iTunes application by clicking on the Dock icon on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC. Click on the name of your iPod Nano under the "Devices" list in the iTunes window. Click on the "Sync" button to establish a connection between your iPod and the computer. Click on the eject symbol next to your iPod's name after the syncing process has finished. Unplug your iPod Nano. The device will be unlocked and you will be able to access all normal features again. Hope it helps.
Resetting the volume limit on your iPod Nano affects everything you listen to, from music to audio books. You can adjust the volume for each individual item on your Nano using the click wheel, but the highs and lows of the sound will depend on the overall volume limit setting. Volume levels will vary with different ear buds and headphones, and using external devices like docking stations to play your iPod Nano will also cause variation in the volume.
Instruction:
1 Press any button on your iPod Nano's click wheel and turn it on. Press the "menu" button at the top of the click wheel until you reach the iPod menu. 2 Select "Settings" from this menu by scrolling down until "Settings" is highlighted, then click the center button. 3 Select "Playback" from the menu choices that show up.
4 Select "Volume Limits." You will reach a screen with a speaker icon and dots indicating the level of volume your iPod is currently set on. 5 Scroll the wheel up or back to adjust the volume limits. Press the center button and you will have the option to lock in your settings by selecting a four-digit combination lock. This is not a necessary step; you can click on "done" and finish. Setting the combination allows you to have more control over any future changes to your iPod's volume limits. Scroll the click wheel to select your combination. Press the center button and you will revisit the volume limits; adjust it as you like and press the center button.

Basically you cant unlock the voulume if you dont know the password. You would probably have to reset your iPod in order to adjust your volume and when you put a new password in be sure to remember it.
Well, to make a long story short, I finally unlocked my ipod after perilous hours of invalid guesses. What did I do? I have a habit of making obvious passwords-I simply goofed this time. I used the last four digits of my mother's cellphone number! Yes, yes, silly me silly me. However, I was quite relieved when I finally unlocked it. Thanks! =)
