Yes it is the battery. First try charging it with trickle charger. NOT car battery charger. It should work fine once it is charged enough to start the bike. Than the bikes should keep it charged. Or you can jump it with car battery. This is safe. THe motorcyle battery is also 12 volts. Just smaller.

After the bike runs for 5-10 minutes and shut if off. Wait 5-10 minutes after it is off and try again. If it does not start again, than your battery is either dead or your stator/rectifier (your charge system) could be faulty. Lot cheaper to get battery for $30 than to pay $75 hourly shop fees for testing and than repairing.

The battery goes flat even after just one week of not riding. I have a 2002 Ducati Monster 400 which is my first bike and am a novice. Could you please help me find a manual as I need to access the battery...

Check the water in the battery,
If it is full disconnect the negative cable and wait a week to see if it is dead. After a good charge if so bad battery. If not bike has a drain on it. Most new bikes have a very small drain and if the battery
is not in good shape it will kill it.

My Ducati 750 Monster Battery is Dead. What kind ...

A smaller car 12v 4 or 5 amps charger will do the job, the slower the battery is charged the better, so use the lower setting if available.
charge it out of the bike, this way you can check the water level, and if it overflows it wont spray acid over your engine and frame.
If it doesnt start the bike after a charge, get a new battery, as running a sad battery can overload the charging electrics. and dont jump start it of a car battery that will accept more amps than the bike can produce
