Fix E03 error keeps beeping and wont stop

Hello Anthony Proud,

A little research has indicated that an "E03 error"
(as you know) is an "over-current condition".

It takes further reading to find that this is a
popular complaint about the Xantrex 1800.
(contact information at bottom).

It seems there are several CAPACITOR QUALITY issues
the 1800 seems to easily suffer that will provoke false
alarms.

You could read quite a bit more about the issue at the
"BADCAPS" site at the bottom of this posting. Historically CAPACITORS have been the weak spot in the durability of
electronics ... From sweet sounding TUBE-TYPE AUDIO EQUIPMENT not sounding so sweet (loud humming...
from line current)... to our MODERN FLAT PANEL
TELEVISIONS... (modern cheesy capacitors) ... popping power-boards like POPCORN (in MY OPINION... a shabby manufacturing CHOICE)... Notwithstanding XANTREX otherwise good name (I'd give them a SERIOUS chance)

BECAUSE of a couple of careers... I have been privileged to watch INDUSTRIAL grade ELECTRONICS (cell-phones, tablets & note books) advance to exquisite levels of robust reliability and continued miniaturization I never thought possible... yet at the same time watching the horrid quality standards acceptable in consumer grade (home electronics, heating & A/C, refrigeration, washers & dryers ... TV & Audio electronics
(marginal designs, quality & skills)...

Even though I had not professionally touched a soldering iron in 40 years... I THOUGHT it easier to BUY the vises, wicks, suckers, magnifiers and heat sync's than to spend ANOTHER THREE (3) MONTHS fighting with SEARS over their BRAND NEW ELITE (matched) washer ... searching for intelligent life forms... to
honor their WONDERFUL "WARANTY"... (I'm just saying).

I finally manage to go down-town (where the SEARS understandably "used-to-be"), cornered a beautiful & sympathetic lady... she ordered me a whole new nearly matched (year newer) KENMORE ELITE (my foot) washer.

(I pray she ALONE is doing well where ever they ALL landed).

Hey... what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Good luck with Xantrex.

I don't know if my unit is charging.I have plugged it in for over 16 hours and it still flashes chg.

If it is new, you might need to open up the battery compartment and make sure there is not a removable protective covering on the battery leads. Otherwise it may be a defective battery. Many times the manufacturer will warranty it if you call them.

My Prosine 2.0 display panel displays Panel Fault: Memory error and the display error as well as all lleds are off. The unit looks as if it has no power to it. I reset (power off.power on) the prosine and...

This is a know and widespread problem with the Prosine 2.0, yet when you call Xantrex, they want to charge you to return, repair and/or replace the remote panel. Shame on you Xantrex.

Xantrex Prosine 1800i "DCDC Shutdown" when connecting AC Load

Hi Schnupfy,

Well, it may be advertised as 1800 watts, but that is a peak. While the 230 VAC may be dead on target, don't expect it to run a mig welder.

Sustained high output is totally dependent upon the power source. What it's doing is protecting itself. DCDC Shutdown indicated 'An overload or system Fault'

Possible problems that would cause this:

  • The load is too high (what is the load?)
  • The power source is intermittent or weak
  • The power source is run through a distribution panel or isolator (Voltage drop)
  • The wiring from the 12VDC source is too long for the gauge used
Click here for a PDF copy of the manual. It is quite well documented.

BEST REGARDS,
MIKE
