well it can only mean one of a few things.printer head is damage or no good... not worth replacing the brain of the printer is malfunctioning unplug for 10 minutes let sit. Sorry but time for a new printer

Please follow the following instructions precisely?.

1) POWER OFF

2) Hold down the ?Paper Source? button + ?Cut Eject? button + 1 paper feed button (Down arrow)

3) POWER ON, whilst holding the buttons.

4) ?View Counters? should appear on the display, so press ?Paper feed? button down until ?Clear Counters? is displayed.

5) Press ?Select type? button + Paper Feed button + wait until ?Cleaner? is displayed.

6) Press ?ENTER? button TWICE

7) Switch machine OFF

8) Switch machine ON

Outcome
The error display should then have disappeared, and should read READY

IMPORTANT
This process can ONLY be followed ONCE before an engineer is required.

Its more of a fiddly job than a difficult one. Remove both end covers and drop down the tray which has the mainboard on. Loosen the tension on the carriage belt, remembering to check the belt tension on the scale before doing so, then remove the belt from the pinion of the motor. Unplug the connector for the motor from the mainboard, then undo the cable from all the various clips and pieces of tape up towards the motor. Then remove the motor and do it all again in reverse. Once its installed you will need to reset the counter to clear the error message.

This happens when you let the "maintenance req. 0040" go for to long. The machine turns itself of to prevent damage.

Solution: Call epson and they will give you the reset code. Cannot find these codes online so if you do call please post instructions

thats your date and time setting, get the adjustment program and do the RTC adjustment

The same has happened to me I replaced one of the inks and got the error message 0010014.
