Water on floor around humidifier

My vicks cool mist humidifier leaves the carpet area around it wet.  I have it on top of a two step stool in my daughters room.  I have to lay towels all around it & on the first step of the stool.  Is there something I need to do ~ I was under the impression that the water should just dissapate in the air not leave the carpet soaked.    Thank you!

We have the same problem that it was leaving our table soaked when we ran it. We just placed it on a folded up beach towel.

I have the same problem. Its on the floor, and I have to put 2 towels in front of it. Am I doing something wrong or what?

The humidifier is on the floor. It leaks water onto the carpet leaving the carpet rather wet. I out a plastic mat underneath it as to not to ruin the carpet. I can feel a fair amount of water being blown out of the top of it. I thought maybe a piece was missing but that is not the case. The humidifier shouldn't spit water all over. Obviously a design flaw. There needs to be a solution to fix this issue

I set the humidider on a stool on a towel and my carpet arount it was soaked, it was amazing how much water was supposedly put out during the night, but it was soaking my carpet. There was a white film all over my furniture. I am 100 per cent dissatisfyed with this product. I can not take it back to the store because I threw away the box. The worst product I have ever bought.

I need to find the instruction manual, I have left water in the machine for a couple of days, and now it is starting to smell. I washed out the resevior, but the air coming out still stinks. I am looking for the best option for cleaning the whole assembly.

We have the same problems with ours. The smell is because it needs to be cleaned, and the wet floor can be solved by putting a towel underneath (not ideal but will work). However, what is the white film it leaves on items in the room? Should I be concerned? We have hard water. Is that the issue?

I have the same problem with mine. The carpet around it is soaked and I'm a little worried about all that moisture. I have it on all night long and for a few hours during the day right now b/c my two year old has a cold and still takes a nap. Does anyone know if other humidifiers do this? It seems very inconvenient, if not damaging to the carpet. It's already destroyed the finish on the table where it sits.

I haven't had any problems with my Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier other than the fact that the area surrounding it is slightly wet after operating for a couple of hours....While I understand that I was using this to moisturize the air during a cold, I knew this would happen, because the air in my room is not dry. If the room isn't dry, the mist that it's putting out in to the air has no where to go but surround the humidifier. All I did to stop this was to buy a water proof mat. I suggest you do the same -- Also, in regards to the water smelling -- You should be cleaning out and drying the basin after every use. Water shouldn't smell unless you let it stagnate inside the plastic -- Try running distilled vinegar through the machine for a couple of minutes -- Also, I would use an extension cord and let it run outside so that your house doesnt smell like Vinegar.

Its bc the air in the room isnt circulating well. If you have a ceiling fan turn it on where the air is sucking up not blowing down and this will circulate the air

We had the same problem and here's how we solved it. I put a wash cloth about 80% covering the slot on the unit where the mist comes out. It can now run all night keeping our little one breathing free and the carpet (we actually have it set on a couple towels) is only slightly damp. The ceiling fan and a portable heater dry it out in 30 minutes or so.

Now I wish someone could post a manual for it (or Vicks "support" would respond to my request for a PDF manual - it's been 2 weeks now with no response - so much for customer service)

Cool mist humidifiers will do this if they need cleaned or if the humidity in the room is already over 25%. To clean the unit, disconnect the electricity, remove toe top of the unit and let it drip out. Remove the screws around the impeller and then while holding the larger **** area, turn the canter post counter clockwise. Clean all the dirt, dust, hair ste. out of anywhere you can. Let it dru completely. This will kill most bacteria. Reassemble, fill with FRESH water. This should be done weekly.

The humidifier leaves a lot of water on floor , is that normal/

Hi. It looks like more people is complaining about this. It shouldn't happened but I'm think that this is just a big cons of this unit. Return to the shop and buy another one basing on people reviews or use this unit and some rugs
