GE S/S Refrigerator model GSS20IEBWW auger not turning

I have a GE S/S Refrigerator model GSS20IEBWW
I tried your suggestion of removing ice bin and depressing ice dispenser lever. Ice auger will not move. I can, however hear the motor engaging. Any suggestions? We are an elderly retired couple living on social security so if we can fix this ourselves we would very much appreciate your help. thank you, Donna

Take a hair dryer and heat the auger drive gear. These will sometimes get moisture on them and freeze up.
Turn the refrigerator off first. Then remove the ice bin. The "U" shaped drive will be in the back.
After you have heated it thoroughly, try to move the gear manually. Resume power and try it again.

How do I get the refrigerator to dump ice

We first need to know if your referring to the ice tray dumping into the bin. Or the ice dumping out into your cup at the front of the refrigerator. If at the bin I maybe the the defrost element on the bottom of the tray that heats up while the fingers spins around to push the ice out from the tray into the bin has burnt out and needs replaced . Most modles require you to replace the entire tray. However if your referring to the front of the refrigerator at the dispenser for you glass. It could be (1) That the trigger switch is bad or touch pad is bad. But if it makes noise as if its trying to bring the ice but it's not then that's not your problem.(2) it could be that the Alger Screw that moves the ice from the chest to the front could have sheared a pin striped the spines or broke at the knuckle.you would only hear the motor running with no ice movement if this was the case(3) and most likely the spout/opening that allows the ice to get from the bin to the Auger has restriction/ frozen block do to improper drainage during defrost cycle. Simply remove the bin inspect and use warm water to clean out obstruction. Hope this help.

Frigidaire is not dispensing ice

Good Afternoon, thank you for your inquiry!

I see you are having trouble with your Frigidaire refrigerator dispenser not dispensing ice. Do you hear the auger motor running when calling for ice? If you do not, the dispenser may be jammed or the refrigerator has a faulty auger motor. I suggest try clearing any ice that is blocking the ice chute, removing any frozen ice or obstructions, verifying that the water valve or fill tube is not frozen. If any proves to be ineffective contact a professional to move forward accurately.

Best regards! - Z

Why doesn't the auger drive motor work?

seems like the motor to turn the auger might be having issues getting power inside the door panel but if your able to move it freely it could mean the motor is burned up or isnt getting power

THe ice /water dispensor is throwing out ice and water independent of contact from a glass hitting the dispense level, to have it dispence. As a result we have turned of the water and ice control but now...

This is a general answer. The water dispenser paddle makes a switch that then opens a water solenoid valve that dispenses the water. The ice paddle makes a switch that starts an auger in the ice bin to push the ice out. There is either a rod across the bin to detect the height of the ice in the bin or a thermostat that hangs a little way down in the bin. These will open a water valve to fill the evaporator to make more ice if they think the bin is low. Mineral buildup in the water valves is fairly common and can keep them from completely closing. I don't know which light your referring to, but the low ice light should go off when the bin hills. Also, small inline water filters are available in most hardware store to filter water for refrigerator use. I hope this helps.

Maytag MSD2651KES delivers crushed ice but no cubed

There is an metal arm that extends out behind the ice bucket that moves up and down when you press the cubed/crushed ice buttons. You need to take the ice bucket out and check the hardware. It's possible that some ice has managed to form in the unit and are blocking the motion. Remove any ice and check if the arm moves freely when you press the buttons on the refrigerator. Similarly, you should check if there is ice blocking the forward and back motion of the plunger in the freezer that bar sits on. This plunger is right next to the auger motor.

Model RF217ACPN water in the vegetable bins and below bins

I am pretty sure you are having a defrost by CouponDropDown">drain blockage problem. Most defrost every eight hours and over a period of time the drain line that comes down from freezer into a cup like object top middle and back of the fresh food section. If blocked by gunk or ice you will see trails of liquid leaking down the rear wall of fresh food compartment until it reaches the crisper drawers. This is not always the same with every model as you may see frozen ice flowing down ther rear wall of freezers on side by sides. Here is an example Click here=> Whirlpool Leak Photo taken by TechnicianBrian He has been around a good bit and deserves credit for his contributions. Here is another way to make this look more si mple in clip below. TechnicianBrian.com And in this photo are several parts listed in photo group #1 were it is most likely running down the wall=> MagicChef CTB1921AR fresh food section. If you still have questions please ask and rate me if I was able to explain this well enough. Every refrigerator is made different so these are examples only. The key is to find if ice or just gunk has blocked you defrost drain. Unplug and then remove the rear panel in back of freezer. We need to see if the water is overflowing the condensate drain tray or if the blockage is in the turn the drain leads down back of your refrigerator. Much more on this page=> Leaking Refrigerators! This is a common tip so I will be placing this post and add as we go new ideas listed in Sea Breeze Tips Section. Fridge Freezer model KA58NP90 Ice maker problem

What is most likely your problem is the crushed ice solenoid. This solenoid, which is located next to the auger motor behind the ice bucket, is failing to actuate when you request cubed ice. Its "home" setting is crushed, and actuates to allow cubes past the crushing mechanism in the bucket. To be certain its the problem, remove the ice bucket, and tape the door light switch in the closed position. actuate the ice dispenser lever, for both cubed and crushed ice. you will see a square hole next to the rotating fork, when you select cubes, it should open. If it does open, there is something wrong with your ice bucket, perhaps the arm is broken, or the door inside bucket is off its snap in type hinge or broken altogether. If it doesnt open, replace the solenoid
