There are a few things you can try to get your MacBook to recognize your Olympus SD card:
Make sure that the SD card is properly inserted into the card reader or the MacBook's SD card slot.
Check to see if the SD card is locked. Some SD cards have a physical switch that can lock or unlock the card. Make sure the switch is in the unlocked position.
Try using a different card reader or a different SD card to see if the problem is with the card reader or the SD card itself.
Try using a different USB cable to connect the card reader to your MacBook.
Check if your mac has the latest macOS update.
Check if the SD card is formatted in a file system that your Mac can read (ex: exFAT, FAT32).
Try running disk utility on your mac and repair the SD card.
If none of these steps work, it may be an issue with the SD card itself, and may need to be replaced.
I am assuming (because you did not tell me) that you are running a version of Windows. You need to open help and support and search under drive management. The drive is showing as raw because you have not yet created a basic volume or any partition structure.
Mac files normally have a Mac-binary, or double-fork structure that the PC cannot handle directly. Therefore, it is convenient to convert any Mac file prior to transferring it to a PC or a PC-based network (or to another Mac via a PC or an on-line service) so that its structure will resemble the binary structure of the conventional PC file. The Mac software to accomplish this is called MacBinary (formerly BinHex), and it is available as freeware from CompuServe (GO MACFF, filename BINHEX.HEX). It is also one of the utilities of Stuffit by Aladdin Systems, v. 3.07 or higher, and comes bundled with some communication programs. MacBinary adds a header consisting of a few (usually 128) bytes to the file. This header contains the file type and creator information and a filename that can be different from the original Mac filename. It acts as a "wrapper," hiding the double-fork Mac structure for transfer to and storage in a PC system. When the file is transferred via modem, the MacBinary file transfer protocol (ZModem MacBinary, YModem MacBinary, etc.) automatically creates the binary PC header for the transfer. However, when the transfer is done via diskette or a typical network (or when a Binary, rather than a MacBinary, modem transfer protocol is used), the conversion from MacBinary to Binary format must be done prior to the transfer in a separate step. If a Mac file is converted to a PC format, e.g. WordPerfect DOS or Microsoft Word Windows, on the Mac and subsequently transferred to a PC, no MacBinary conversion is needed, since the converted file no longer has the double-fork structure of the Mac. Also text-only files (which have no resource fork) need no MacBinary conversion prior to their transfer to the PC, unless they contain non-ASCII characters (accented and other non-English characters, special symbols, etc.) so really in a nutshell, it will have to be converted before it is transferred to the G-mini disc to be able to be read in PC format, you can try searching the net for programs that will convert MAC to PC but i think it will be very difficult to achieve ...hope this helps please vote and comment thanks
Does the SD card have pictures on it? What is the camera model used with this card? Have you tried connecting the camera itself to the PC in order to transfer the card's contents?
So what kind of un-recognized format your photos turned into? Are they now RAW format? I guess yes because I met this kind of error on my Canon camera. In your case you should take a try this photo recovery software PhotoRetrieval. It should help you out. If you are Mac user, go to Photo Recovery for Mac.
Just connect your camera (memory card or stick etc) to the computer which has installed this program and start to recover. But just remember - DO NOT write anything back until you get the deleted data back. Best regards.
This tutorial describes the procedure to recover one volume when
the volume was accidentally formatted
Windows reports the volume is "raw filesystem", or "not formatted"
An external drive failed, either flash (so called "thumb drive") or an hard disk connected using USB or FireWire enclosure.
MFT is corrupt on the NTFS volume, rendering filesystem partially or completely unreadable
The recovery is done in seven steps, requiring about eleven (11) mouse clicks.
Note: The older than current versions of ZAR might have been used to create the screenshots in this tutorial. We did not update the screenshots if there is no significant difference between older and current versions. If you see some option in the program which is not described in the tutorial, just leave it at its default setting.
Step 1 - Get, install, and start ZAR Download and install ZAR just like you do with any regular program. When you run it, ZAR displays the window like the one below:
Click "Next >>"
Step 2 - Select processing mode
Select "Recover data from a simple volume or from a functional RAID volume"
Click "Next >>"
Step 3 - Select physical device to recover
Select the appropriate hard drive
Click "Next >>" for a list of volumes (logical disks) on this hard drive
Are you taking pictures in "Raw" quality? This can be found on your camera, or your picture details. If you are shooting in RAW then you can not view your pictures without software. Enless you have something like a Superzoom or Digital SLR, you probably won't get the option of shooting in RAW. Also, how large are the files you cannot read? If they are RAW files, they should be as large in mega bytes as your camera is in mega pixels.
