Direct TV remotes have special instructions to "program"
various Television manufacturer's equipment into each of their units. Simply by inputting the appropriate codes the "TV"

Once PROGRAMMED they will operate the set and the "DIRECT" equipment together...

Typically some fine set "MENU" items will not be available... so it is wise the keep your REGULAR REMOTE around for those SPECIAL APPLICATIONS.

try working it the other way, input the code to work your toshiba television from the direct tv remote.

Insignia TV Code for DIRECT TV is 10463. To program the DIRECT TV remote do the following
1. Slide to TV
2. Press HOLD the MUTE and SELECT
3. If TV Green Light flash 2 times proceed step 4 otherwise goto step 1
4. Release MUTE and SELECT
5. Input 10463.

Hello, my name is Becki Barned, with Dish Network customer service. I read your blog, and if this has not been resolved yet, or if you are still having any other problems, I would be more that happy to help you out! You need to program your remote in this case. Pull out the Smart Card in the front of the receiver, which will bring you to system info. Here, with your remote, hold down the SAT button on the top left of the remote, until all the mode buttons light up at the top of the remote, then release. Then press a number between 2 and 15 on the numeric keypad, then press the pound button (#) then record (above the 3) 3 times. This will resolve the remote issue!!!!!

They sell basic RCA remotes at places like Walmart for about $5.

Press 'Menu'
Scroll to 'Customer support' and Press Select
When the application loads you'll see the codes menu.

Not really too sure about Direct TV. But give me some time, I have asked some other Experts here for their help. Hopefully one or two of them may have an answer..
