The battery is located in the front of the rear drive mechanism. It is mounted just below the alternator control board. The following video shows the battery location along with the battery replacement procedure. Battery 6 Volt 2 5 Amp Hr LifeFitness 0017 00003 0685 SPORTSMITH net

SOURCE: If the lcd screen for

Hi, depending on whether you have a weak battery or not, first of all replace the battery and if the display does not come up then you definitely have a bad lcd screen which needs to be replaced or check out the the wiring connections that attaches to the lcd screen to confirm if it is connected.
If the wire is connected to the lcd screen, you change the battery and the lcd screen does not come up, you have no choice that to replace the lcd screen.

Life Fitness 95xi elliptical electronic panel will turn on but after a few seconds the screen goes blank and evenutally starts back at start up screen.

I would suggest verifying 6 volts output from the battery. From there, check the reed switch connection on the power control board. Also verify the gap between the reed switch and the magnet on the pulley. It needs to be close enough to the magnet to get a good reading. I am attaching a link to a video that shows the reed switch replacement procedure. You can see the magnet and also the slots in the reed switch that allow the adjustment. Battery is obvious first check. Using a multimeter on 20V DC setting, touch both + and - terminals and not should be very close to 6V. In my case, my battery was 2V but after replacing it, still wouldn't power on. I did notice by main wiring harness from control board to the display was warm, so I repacked the control board and voila! I probably static shocked the control board when i was moving it.
