Is it possible that some spray cleaner got into the controls?

I always recommend that users spray cleaner on a soft cloth then wipe the control panel.

Otherwise, the spray can get into the controls and lock it up or make it act odd.

If it does not dry out over itme, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

But the keypad or control unit may be damaged.

Please post back with more details so we can help further.

Microwace noise coming from top and flashing

dont use the microwave until you retrieve what dropped inside when you removed the port. The grinding is most likely a foreign object that is hitting the moving parts of the microwave and causing sparking. It can catch fire

GE JVM1650 Microwave Making Loud Noise

hello Frank. Sorry to tell you that the magnetron is going bad and making that terrible noise. Since the inside of a microwave, even unplugged has up to 2000 residual and deadly volts of electricity I recommend either calling a pro or replacing the unit.

Noise

More than likely the rollers under the glass tray have build up on them. simply remove tray and rollers and clean rollers with soap and water. Before installing clean track area that rollers set in and should run smooth after that. If this doesn't do it then reply with more info about it < does tray move in a jerking motion?, does unit have circular cover in the top? in right upper corner there is perferated metal,is it discolored?> should be able to figure it out if it isn't rollers.

GE Spacesaver 1800 XL - rattling sound

Hi jnflanders,
You've probably solved this by now, but I'll answer just in case. That part is called the stirrer motor. You can replace it yourself, as long as you have an offset phillip's head screwdriver handy.
Before you order the replacement part, figure out if your stirrer is driven by a d-shaped or a square shaft. You can tell by taking off the round plate on the inside top wall of the microwave. GE makes stirrer motors for both d-shaped and square shafts, so you'll have to get the right one. Here's the d-shaped motor that fixed this problem with my microwave: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=2024961.
Good luck!

Many thanks to e3enigma above! I removed the synch motor under the turntable; all other microwave functions work fine and the grinding noise is gone, hooray! A trip to the appliance parts store tomorrow for a replacement synchronous motor and all should be well. Thanks again!

GE over the range microwave making grinding noise

This sounds like the stirrer. If it sticks or stops, the microwaves can damage or destroy it. You may have a bad stirrer or magnetron. There is an important bulletin that covers these problems. To see if yours is covered, see: http://207.234.249.73/mwd/ge_mw_mag_kit_bulletin.pdf If you need more help, please follow-up.
