Can a freezer be operated in temperatures below freezing.

We have been given an upright freezer. We do not have room for it in the house but wondered whether we could operate it in the garage. The potential problem is that the outside temperature drops well below freezing in the winter and the garage is not heated. Could the freezer be operated under these conditions?

My Woods upright freezer MU07W running great for 9 years. Will it continue to run if I decide to place it outside on the balcony where temperature goes down to 20 below F or to max of 90 F plus?

Not the best idea. We had one in our garage where it got cold but not that awful cold. Not a good idea unless you want to take a chance. If the unit shuts down for a long time because of the cold the system could freeze or seize up.

The freezer is in my garage and it is about 90 degrees. Sides of freezer are very hot. Is this a problem.

It is not a good idea to put a freezer in an unairconditioned garage. The reason is because freezers are designed to operate in temperatures of a typical home. It's job is to keep the contents below freezing. When it is in unconditioned garage, it has to work harder in the summer to maintain that temperature. So it will get very hot in these conditions and will use a lot of energy to keep your food cold than if it was in an airconditioned space. As working is such a tough environment, don't expect it to last as long as if it was in an airconditioned space. Hope this helps you.

Can it be put in a carport year round

Cold weather will not cause problem. The refrigerant stays at gaseous state well below freezing temperature. If i am not mistaken R134 boils at -27 degrees F. below that it would turn liquid but even then it still will not harm the system. Make sure there is no water in the line going to the ice maker and water dispenser because water can freeze and bust the water line.

I have a Frigidaire model GLFU206FWA upright freezer. The temperature control won't go above 10 degree F. This causes freezer burn on some foods after a period of time. Is there a way to regulate the...

Good day,
Manufacturers of freezers do not give the option of running the machine much above that temperature. Normal operating temperature for a freezer is about -2 to about 8 above F.
Otherwise people could accidentally set the temp too warm and cause a loss of food.
Some appliance parts houses carry universal thermostats that could possibly cover the temperature range your looking for, but 30 degrees is far to warm to preserve frozen food safely.

Does the light on the outside of freezer stay on . I bought a used freezer. It is a frigidaire commercial upright (frost free) Does the light on outside of freezer stay on all the time? I have no manual....

Normally there is a Green light showing that power is on

A Yellow one for fast freeze and a Red one for under temperature

The outer casing is well insulated from the inside otherwise the freezer motor would run none stop without cooling the contents so the temperature of the outside casing will reflect the room temperature not the intenal

Freezer compressor runs steady & getting -30F

You probably have a defective thermostat or sensor for reading the temperature.

Freezer Problem

If it started to cool again the compressor was running. Check the condenser and make sure it is clean. Provide as much air movement through the garage as possible . 100 degrees is a high temperature to be operating a refrigerator in.

Frigidaire Upright not cooling

Not enough information but  if you are refering to the compressor as the black housing below, it seems that the compressor is either seized or burnt out.
