Furnace The furnace is a propane gas appliance that requires 12 volt power to electronically light. New furnaces sometimes emit smoke and an odor during the first 5 - 10 minutes of initial use due to paint burning off the heating chamber. Do not mistake this for a malfunctioning furnace. Follow the suggestions in Chapter 2 regarding maintaining Indoor Air Quality if this occurs. Please refer to the manufacturer instructions supplied with the unit for care and operation. The heat is controlled by the room thermostat so may be that is not working . It may have a variable fan speed which could help you . but you would have to check that out with the makers .
Could be thermostat or safety switch(es) in the furnace. Are you sure that the pilot is staying lit? Are you sure the main burner is lighting? Are you sure the forced draft blower is running, and the blower-detection "flapper" switch is working OK? Any of these safety devices will cause the gas supply valve to close if they are not "satisfied" in a few seconds after the thermostat calls for heat. They keep your RV safe!
Got here late...I am assuming this is for an RV. There are probably electric furnaces on some of the newer ones, however, an electric furnace would draw more power than most parks could handle, so the is answer is it probably needs to have propane. On your panel, or near your furnace, you will see a switch to tell the furnace to use propane or electric...if your furnace is capable of running on electricity.
The fan limiting switch is acting up. It should stay running until lower temp is reached. It will cycle until the temp stays below or at the low setting. Limit switches are adjustable.
