I have thinkpad t30 and unfortunatelly I formatted my laptop and deleted recovery software on it. My friend has a t30 also. My question is: Can we construct a recovery cd from her computer?

my operating system is XP (SP2). But I have a serious problem on installing XP. After I formatted my laptop and create 2 partitions on it, I tried to install XP on first partition. my laptop copied the needed system files and set up utilities, it started setup but after a while, it gave an error that set up can not continue. the message contains such sentences: "check bios update bla bla.. " and "change video port (or something like that).. " what should I do?

If your friend has the exact same model computer, you should be able to use the drivers to install onto your computer. As for recreating a recovery disk, that is a little more complicated, for legal reasons. The operating system on your laptop has a unique serial number, as does your friends. That being said, you can't install the same operating system from her laptop, onto yours... as that serial number is already in use on her computer. Your best bet is to try to use her drivers, once you've installed an operating system onto your laptop.

Try reformatting the partition, or even deleting it and creating a new one. Sometimes the windows installer has a hard time working smoothly if there are any errors on the drive.

Thinkpad R50e restore fabric settings/partition erased

If you need to reset it, you can get a recovery disk from IBM Lenovo which will be much cheaper than getting a new copy of Windows. When you call up IBM, make sure you keep your serial no handy.

My IBM Think Pad T30 showin working on AC with out powering..

If it's not finding the operating system, and you'va ran the recovery cd, then the problem is going to be that the hard drive has failed and will need replaced. In order to double check and make sure it's the hard drive, run the recovery or operating system disc, and reformat the hard drive. If the hard drive will not format, then it's bad.

Recovery partition - repair

You have obviously deleted the partition that the laptop could recover from but usually if you are supplied a cd to recover windows, there is normally a drivers folder within the cd but not the aplications, such as anti virus although these are only for a trial period. for things like microsoft works if supplied, are normally on a seperate cd. Without knowledge of your partition software, you should be able to partition the HDD and then copy the files from one drive to another, but the restore may not work as the system files may not weave together when you come to restore. I would imagine it's only the drivers that's youre main concern, which you can install from your other laptop.
